P. Diddy has finally broken his silence about the viral video, which was recently made public by CNN. The video showed him physically abusing his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. The video has now gone viral and drawn lots of flak on social media. On Sunday, May 19, P. Diddy took to Instagram to upload what appears to be a video of him apologizing.
In the video, P. Diddy can be seen with a somber expression, saying:
"I'm not asking for forgiveness, I'm truly sorry."
The rapper also points out in the video that his actions were horrible and that he has sought therapy and true forgiveness since then. However, this apology has not only his fanbase but also the comments section of the video divided on the views of his apology for a gruesome act.
P. Diddy issues his first apology following the Cassie Ventura viral video
P. Diddy, 54, recently apologized for a 2016 incident where he was caught on camera being violent towards his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. The footage, released by CNN, shows Diddy chasing down and physically assaulting Cassie.
Despite reaching a settlement, Cassie, 37, has chosen not to publicly address the incident. The hotel's location was confirmed by CNN using photos. Diddy has now uploaded a video of himself apologizing on his Instagram account, with the caption,
"I'm truly sorry."
The video was a direct message from the rapper himself, and he said, among other things:
"I had hot rock bottom (...) My behavior in that video was inexcusable and I take full responsibility."
The rapper took to social media to apologize for his actions towards Cassie. Some people were unsure or disappointed, but others were supportive and understanding. Some comments also pointed out how complicated the situation is.

Cassie Ventura's allegations and relationship with P. Diddy
In November 2023, Cassie Ventura sued her ex-boyfriend Sean "Diddy" Combs, claiming he r**ed her, trafficked her for s*x, and abused her physically during their relationship from 2007 to 2018. Ventura, who was 19 when she first met the 37-year-old Combs in 2005, said he aggressively pursued her and exposed her to a drug-filled lifestyle that made her feel stuck and obedient. The lawsuit says that Combs had a bad temper and often hit Ventura, even in front of his staff at Bad Boy Entertainment.
It also claims that Combs assaulted Ventura in 2018 and made her take part in s**ual acts with male s*x workers while he watched and recorded them. Combs and Ventura started dating back in 2007, when he showed interest in her. Their relationship was on and off for more than ten years, with talk of getting engaged in 2014 before calling it quits in 2015. They got back together later in the year but supposedly called it quits again in 2016 after a big argument.
Ventura’s attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, said:
“The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
Ventura and P. Diddy finally called it quits in 2018, with her team confirming in October of that year that they had broken up for good.
