Rick Ross recently gave an interview to Shannon Sharpe for Nightcap Summer Sessions, and spoke about his beef with Drake and The Game, and how he dealt with both the disses differently. During the interview, he clarified that “not responding is a response,” as he never replied to The Game’s Freeway’s Revenge, but was prompt enough to reply to Drake’s Push Ups with Champagne Moments.
He said:
"Is it something to gain for you? “Not responding is a response when you a boss. Motherf*cker might wake you up early in the morning to text you some. Aye, man. Get on that Instagram Story and don’t even—that is a response. So, it’s like, yo, to get a response from me, it has to be something really for me to gain.”
Ross continued:
“If you just a mark who woke up and wanna say the biggest boss’ name ‘cause you like my sneakers or something, homie, I say, ‘Calm down nig*a.’”
While Rick Ross and Drake’s feud is well known, the duo has collaborated in the past, as they were allegedly good friends back then. As per The Shade Room, the duo worked on multiple songs together, a few of them being, I’m on One, Aston Martin Music, Money in the Grave, Diced Pineapples, and even Pop That.
Drake dissed Rick Ross and spoke about his past as a corrections officer in “Push Ups”: More details explored
Drake and Rick Ross did not always have a rocky relationship, as the two were good friends in the past. Having collaborated many times, the feud between Drake and Ross intensified when Drake released Push Ups and dissed Ross for his past as a corrections officer. In the song, Drake rapped:
“I might take your latest girl and cuff her like I’m Ricky. Can’t believe he jumpin’ in, this ni*ga turnin’ 50. Every song that made it on the chart, he got from Drizzy. Spend that lil’ check you got and stay up out my business.”
However, Ross was prompt to respond, as he instantly released Champagne Moments, which disses Drake, his lifestyle, and his appearance. During the interview with Shannon Sharpe for Nightcap Summer Sessions, Ross also stated:
“I’ma be honest, on some rap sh*t, it was no conspiracies. Rozay’s name was said. Rozay, I’ma jump off the porch, that’s what I do … I’ma jump off the porch and I’ma have some fun. And that’s what I did. I had some fun.”
The Game released the track, Freeway’s Revenge in May, this year, and blasted Rick Ross for his past. In the song, he spoke about his past as a correctional officer and also highlighted a few other choices he made in his life.
While Rick Ross responded to the diss track with several Instagram stories, however, he decided to keep silent as he did not reply with a diss track.
