On July 30, rapper Megan Thee Stallion appeared at Vice President Kamala Harris’ first campaign rally in Atlanta, Georgia to extend her support for the upcoming presidential election.
Wearing royal blue colored formal pants, a matching blazer, and a tie over a cropped white-collared shirt, the Houston native took to the stage before Harris’ speech and performed a series of her hit songs including Girls in the Hood, Mamushi, Body, and Savage accompanied by several backup dancers.
“Now I know my ladies in the crowd love their bodies. If you want to keep loving your body, you know who to vote for... Let me hear you make some noise,” Megan addressed the audience in the middle of her performance.
The video of her singing and dancing has now gone viral, with the internet having varied reactions to it. For instance, Instagram user @xohoney_91 commented on The Neighborhood Talk’s repost of the clip by writing:
“Now Trump about to bring S*xyy Red Out.”
Several others joined in the conversation on other social media platforms. Netizens pointed out that Megan Thee Stallion's performance at Kamala Harris’ campaign rally was an “unserious” attempt, and trolled it.
“I’m sorry this is just unserious, esp the cropped suit,” a person wrote.
“This country ain’t serious,” one person wrote.
“We in the most unserious times in world history,” another person wrote.
A few claimed that Beyonce would have been a better choice to perform at the rally instead of Megan Thee Stallion. Names of other artists including Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu were also dropped.
“Could’ve got Beyoncé to sing ‘Freedom,’” a netizen wrote.
“Beyonce wasn’t available?” one netizen asked.
“Why??!!!!?? Like… they couldn’t get Erykah Badu?? Or Lauryn Hill, like we couldn’t get Jill Scott to say a poem? Lol,” another netizen wrote.
X users also predicted that Megan Thee Stallion’s performance ruined Kamala Harris’ chances of winning the 2024 election.
“She’s gonna lose votes omg,” an individual wrote.
“Kamala just sabotaged her own campaign,” another individual wrote.
Megan Thee Stallion urged Atlanta crowd to vote for Kamala Harris
During her performance, Megan Thee Stallion rooted for Kamala Harris to the White House race and asked the people of Atlanta to extend their support.
“Make some noise for Ms. Harris, our future president… Let’s get this done Atlanta. We are about to make history with the first female president, the first black female president. Let’s get this done h*tties. H*tties for Harris!” the Suga rapper said.
Notably, this is not the first time the Pete & Thomas Foundation owner has endorsed a political figure. Earlier in December 2023, she dubbed former First Lady Michelle Obama as “Thee First Lady.”
Meanwhile, Megan Thee Stallion attended the Democratic campaign rally in between her ongoing Hot Girl Summer Tour, the next stop of which is in Atlanta itself on August 2.
The Grammy winner, who released her third studio album Megan last month under her independent label, Hot Girl Productions, was accompanied by Atlanta rapper, singer, and record producer Quavo who also endorsed Kamala Harris and lauded her efforts to tackle the gun violence issue in the USA.
