Rapper Tan DaGod was reportedly fatally shot in Oakland on Saturday, July 13, 2024. The incident took place at the launch of the singer’s Glamor Beauty Supply store. Kron 4 reported that another person was injured during the shooting as well. The musician was 27 years old at the time of her passing. Reacting to the tragic news, one netizen said:
Law enforcement revealed in a press statement that the shooting took place at about 5 p.m. in the 4000 block of Telegraph Avenue. As people heard shots go off in the locality, they ran into a nearby donut shop to take cover. Speaking about the shooting, a witness told Kron 4:
“I heard some shooting I thought it was part of their music.”
The Oakland Police Department revealed that when they arrived at the scene, Tan DaGod was already being transported to the hospital after being shot. However, she died in the health facility.
Tan DaGod was an up-and-coming Oakland rapper who is known for her R&B and hip-hop tracks. A few of her popular songs include That’s My Ex Pack, He Say I'm Kold and I Need Therapy among others.

As many continued to express their sadness online, some also brought up Tan DaGod's legal woes online. This included her allegedly killing her abusive boyfriend, Taiwan Lamar Moore. After she was released from prison for the crime, she created the diss track That’s My Ex Pack. Speaking about the same, some netizens said online:

Dozens of family members and friends of the rapper showed up at the establishment to congratulate her on the day of the event. She had also taken to her Instagram account days before her death to tell her 20,000 followers that she would be hosting a meet-and-greet at the venue. She said online:
“We here. I got granny in the cut. Don’t play with it. Come f**king shop. They got everything you need.”
Following the tragic shooting, a Korean restaurant employee said in an interview with Kron 4 that he saw a man in a hoodie open fire at Tan DaGod’s store. The worker said:
“This guy with a hoodie came by and started shooting, and that was it, and he just ran away.”
Since the tragedy, people have been laying down flowers outside the beauty shop in tribute to the late entrepreneur and rapper.
Law enforcement said in a press statement that they have yet to identify the shooter. As of July 13, no arrests were made in relation to the incident.
