DJ Akademiks fell on the ground on his livestream after hearing the news of rapper Lil Durk being arrested. The streamer displayed the news for his fans alongside Durk's mugshot and later rolled on the ground on his livestream while laughing about the arrest.

"He's in Florida. I got the whole thing on my stream I got it! Oh my god bro! I pulled it up myself ni**a! He's locked up ni**a! (...) I was hoping this was all a big a** joke!" he said.

On Thursday (October 24), Lil Durk was taken into custody on murder-for-hire charges and is being held without bond, per XXL. The rapper is currently at the Broward County Jail waiting for his transfer to U.S. Marshals. No further details about his arrest have been revealed.

Durk's arrest comes hours after five alleged associates of his OTF (Only The Family) collective were arrested on charges of murder-for-hire and murder-for-hire conspiracy in relation to the 2022 murder case of Quando Rondo's cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, in Los Angeles.

Hours before Lil Durk's arrest on October 24, five alleged members of his Chicago-based record label Only The Family (OTF) were arrested by federal agents. The five men are Asa Houston, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, and Kavon London Grant.

As per the Chicago Tribune, the indictment claims that the flight and rental charges of the five men in Los Angeles were paid via a credit card tied to the label. XXL also reported that prosecutors further alleged that an unnamed member of the OTF allegedly offered "lucrative music opportunities" to anyone who would kill Quando Rondo.

All five men were charged with "murder-for-hire involving a death, using a machine gun in a violent crime that resulted in death, and conspiracy to conduct murder-for-hire." At the time of their arrest, it was reported that Lil Durk was taken by the feds as part of the investigation but not named as a defendant. However, his arrest was confirmed hours later.

The five alleged members of Lil Durk's record label OTF were allegedly connected to the murder of Quando Rondo's cousin. On August 19, 2022, Quando Rondo and his team were in Los Angeles. Their black Cadillac Escalade was shot at while at a gas station in the Beverly Grove neighborhood. Rondo, his sister, and his cousin Saviay’a Robinson were in the car at the time.

Although Rondo and his sister escaped, Robinson was shot multiple times and succumbed to his wounds. The feds believe that Robinson's murder was allegedly revenge for the death of Lil Durk's associate, King Von in 2020. Von was allegedly shot dead outside an Atlanta hookah bar in November 2020 by an associate of Quando Rondo.

The five men who were arrested in relation to Robinson's murder arrived at Dirksen US Courthouse on October 24. The case will reportedly move to Los Angeles for further proceedings. As of now, U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Gilbert has ordered to keep them in detention. Officials are reportedly still investigating the alleged involvement of Durk's OTF record label in the proceedings.

The mother of Chicago drill rapper FBG Duck, Lasheena Weekly, reportedly also filed a complaint in October 2024, accusing Durk, King Von, and OTF members of allegedly being involved in her son's death. This comes after Duck was killed in 2020.
