Singer Madison Beer recently commented on being frequently compared to actress Megan Fox. In an interview with Rolling Stone, published on Thursday, December 19, 2024, the singer discussed adapting Fox's character from the cult-classic horror film Jennifer's Body in her song Make You Mine.
When questioned what she thinks about fans saying the two personalities are related, Beer remarked:
"I’m also like, 'Girl, I don’t even look like her (Fox) like that. She has blue eyes.' I appreciate it, but I don’t even look like her. But yeah, I’m honored and I hope that if she’s seen it (music video), she’s loved it."
As Madison Beer's interview went viral, internet users were quick to react. One sarcastically commented:
Many agreed with Beer, saying they don't see the resemblance.
"we love our humble queen @madisonbeer," one wrote.
"tbh i dont see the resemblace yall irritating," another commented.
"idk why ppl keep saying they look alike, they both got dark hair n pretty but thats about it megan has those crazy blue eyes n a completely different face shape," a fan reacted.
Meanwhile, others continued to assert that there could be a familial relation.
"They may not look 100% alike, but there is enough of a resemblance that if someone was to tell me that they were related in some way, like they were sisters or something, I'd totally buy that," one user stated.
"they look similar it’s okay to admit it," a person reacted.
"Girl you are her daughter," another added.
"The fans have been asking me for years"— Madison Beer about referencing Megan Fox's character
Madison Beer dropped Make You Mine's music video in April 2024. The song was met with success, both critically and commercially. It debuted at the No. 9 spot on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart and reached the top 40 on the U.K. Singles Chart.
It's a music video, co-directed by Beer and Adrian Moreno, referencing cult-classic movies—Jennifer's Body (2009) and American Beauty (1999). Speaking to Rolling Stone about Megan Fox seeing the video, the singer remarked:
"I’ve literally never spoken to her. Isn’t that insane? I hope that she would like it because she’s an icon, and I honestly did it because the fans have been asking me for years."
The clip shows Madison Beer wearing a cheerleading outfit with a choker necklace in the opening shot and later in an outfit and hairstyle like Fox's character. Another clip shows Beer dressed like Fox's co-star, Amanda Seyfried.
Madison Beer elaborated that fans have been asking her to "do something (related to) Jennifer's Body." However, she was "hesitant to lean into it" because she didn't want people to assume she (Beer) thinks she is Megan Fox. The singer also noted that audiences were drawn to the film because Fox is "hot," and there was Seyfried.
"I think it’s just an iconic movie and people just feel a connection to it. I also think it’s very aesthetic, and people love an aesthetic movie," Madison Beer explained.
Make You Mine earned Madison Beer a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording at the 67th Grammy Awards. The singer said she was shocked and called the moment "insane."
"I was so excited right when it came out, I didn’t even see who else was in the category because I was too busy screaming my brains out," she told the publication.
Beer is up against Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, and Troye Sivan in the category.
Make You Mine is available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music.
