Netizens have reacted to American rapper Yasiin Bey announcing his new album in collaboration with The Alchemist. Titled Forensics, it marks Yasiin Bey's first official album release in nearly two decades and is scheduled to be released in 2025.

Yasiin Bey's last album was called True Magic, and it was released on December 29, 2006. Produced by The Neptunes and Rich Harrison, the album was reportedly released to align with a contractual obligation. Therefore, it didn't feature a booklet, cover art, lyrics, or credits post-immediate release. It managed to sell over 97,000 copies by 2014.

Fans of Yasiin Bey and The Alchemist took to the internet to react to the news of the collaboration between the duo. Although not many details are available as of writing, fans expressed their excitement on X. Some popular comments are as follows:

"Oh wow i’m here for this," a user wrote on X.
"I can't even emphasize how incredible this is gonna be," commented another.
"Gonna be dope judging mos def can rap n alchemist a legend," one fan chimed in.
"Bro if he’s not going to actually rap on 90% of this album spare us. I don’t want to hear 2 freestyles and 13 African chant songs. Rap ni**a! You’re great at it," opined a user on X.

One user wrote about refraining from getting too excited before the album's release. They commented:

"Not going to get excited and set myself up for disappointment, hell no that last black star album was trash for Mos Def standards."
"Damn this could easily be the best album that comes out next year," declared another.
"I hope this gets put on streaming unlike the last few mos albums," a user opined on X.

Some other reactions were as follows:

"Wasn't expecting this but it's NEEDED!!! LETS GO!!! Bew Yasiin Bey music in 2025 was most definitely in my bucket list," announced a fan.
"The collaboration album between Def and The Alchemist is gon be a great one for 2025," claimed another.
"More rapping less singing please brother Yasiin," inferred a user on X.

Yasiin Bey and The Alchemist will reportedly announce new details and materials of their new album in an event on January 25, 2025. It will be a live event in Paris.

Rapper and singer Yasiin Bey described Drake's music as one belonging to the pop genre in a Patreon-exclusive interview on The Cutting Room podcast that was released on January 10, 2024.

When host Recho Omondi asked Bey about the current state of hip-hop and his opinion on Drizzy, the rapper compared it to music one generally finds in a shopping mall. He said (as quoted by XXL):

"Drake is pop to me. In the sense like, if I was in Target in Houston and I heard a Drake song, it feels like a lot of his music is compatible with shopping. Or shopping with an edge, in certain instances."

The host and Bey went on to have fun with the idea of comparing Drake's work with quintessential 'shopping' music.

"So many products! So many SKUS! Look at all these SKUs! I love this mall. Look at this place! I mean, look at this place! They have everything! Everything's here. Oh, this is great. This is the new Drake, you hear it? It's great," he said.

Fans were divided in their opinion on Yasiin Bey's comments. While many fans sided with the 51-year-old, Drake fans disagreed with him.

Drake and Kendrick Lamar have recently been involved in a diss track feud, which has been considered by many as one of the best feuds in hip-hop history.
