American rapper and actor 2 Chainz (born Tauheed K. Epps) recently expressed disappointment that his friends did not attend his holiday food drive. Before this year's Thanksgiving, 2 Chainz shared images from his Tru Foundation's annual food giveaway, where he was joined by his wife, kids, and staff from the Esco restaurant.

However, 2 Chainz was left frustrated in the end as many people he'd helped in the past allegedly failed to show up for the drive. During an Instagram live after the giveaway, 2 Chainz expressed his disappointment, stating:

“People ask me for favors all the time. Ask me for money all the time, and y’all can’t even pop up to help me help other people. So now I’m working for you? I’m out here grinding, getting my money to help you because you can’t get your hustle together…I’m helping the unfortunate, and you one of the unfortunate, but you ain’t even gonna come back?”

While the rapper didn't take names, he implored his unnamed associates to leave him alone during the Instagram Live. The outburst has caused quite a stir on social media, with several fans turning up to support 2 Chainz. Some popular comments on X are as follows:

"Omg the disappointment in his face," a fan wrote on X.
"Crazy how folks could have good people in the life and take it for granted," another said.
"All ima say is when you rock with yourself can’t nobody disappoint you," another advised 2 Chainz on X.

One user opined that 2 Chainz should've advertised the food drive so more people could join him.

"He should’ve advertised it and let some REAL folks help out," the user commented.
"It’s a eye opening year for ppl to watch who they call they friends," one announced.
"Sometimes you need to sit in the situation for you to be able to stand up for yourself," wrote another.

Some other comments on X are as follows:

"They not really, and they just vultures waiting for him to drop some money. Especially when you know he is going to do it. So all you had to do was clear your schedule in advance. That's some sucker sh*t to leave your supposed homie out there by himself," a fan commented.
"People only for you if you making them money are giving, but they can lend out a helping hand, that’s when you cut people loose, because aren’t for you at all…it’s a money Thang, not giving back to the community, they don’t care cause if they did where would they be," one opined.

Despite the lack of help, the food drive was a success and helped provide food to several people, thereby fulfilling its primary objective.

2 Chainz partnered with PepsiCo to launch 'Taste of Tomorrow,' an initiative aimed at boosting the representation of people of color in the hard sciences, i.e., Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

According to a report by the Pew Research Center, people of color make up just 9% of professionals invested in the STEM fields. The 'Taste for Tomorrow' initiative is intended to break the barriers that hinder the path of a quintessential person of color in pursuing STEM careers. Speaking about the partnership in a press release, 2 Chainz said:

“As a HBCU alum, I’m excited to share my platform and partner with PepsiCo’s ‘Taste of Tomorrow’ to support diversity in STEM and highlight the talented graduates from HBCUs entering the workforce.”

The initiative involves lucrative scholarships and financial assistance for students at HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities). For instance, PepsiCo and the PepsiCo Foundation plan to invest $350,000 in scholarships and assistance for HBCU students.

The PepsiCo Foundation will also distribute $200,000 across nine HBCUs for the school year 2025. Finally, the FMCG conglomerate will contribute $100,000 to help develop STEM programs at Prairie View A&M Universities and Florida A&M.

Speaking about the initiative, Kent Montgomery, Senior Vice President, Industry Relations and Multicultural Development at PepsiCo said:

“HBCUs are a critical pillar of impact, influence, and opportunity, nurturing the next generation of Black leaders. With the launch of this campaign, we’re not only helping to create a more diverse and inclusive workforce for the STEM field, but also drive innovation and progress in the food industry."

The 'Taste of Tomorrow' initiative also includes an R&D educational workshop series aimed at helping and inspiring students to pursue a career in STEM fields.
