50 Cent has been trending on social media after his video from an event went viral. The clip shows him performing in Toronto as part of his concert, shared on July 21, 2024, through the official page of HRTV on Instagram. The video has specifically grabbed attention since it shows the rapper making fun of Rick Ross.
Also known as Curtis James Jackson III, 50 Cent expressed gratitude to the audience who attended the concert and even performed his single Hate It or Love It. Furthermore, he addressed Rick Ross by saying:
"I want to take the time out to thank you for making me feel so at home. Because some of u'all kicked Rick Ross' a*s right. So I wanna thank you again for making me feel so at home."
50 Cent's jokes referred to the altercation during the Ignite Music Festival last month. Rick Ross and his crew were walking through the crowd when they got involved in a dispute with the surrounding group. Ross was punched by a man after an argument, leading to a fight where Rick's security guard was also attacked by several people.
On the other hand, DJ Akademiks also posted the video of Curtis' performance at the concert through Instagram and netizens took to the comments section to share their reactions. One of them wrote:
"Once you beef with 50, it's up 4 life."
Most people were spotted targeting 50 Cent in the comments section for his joke and a user stated that he sounds old now. Another person referred to his joke by writing that it "landed flat" and the audience did not care about the same.
Rick Ross and 50 Cent's dispute started more than 20 years ago
While there are no official details available about when the rappers began having issues with each other, it reportedly dates back to the late 2000s. The duo had a moment at a BET event where 50 Cent allegedly gave a weird stare, to Rick Ross, speculating the beginning of their dispute.
Ross responded after a long time in 2009 with a single titled Mafia Music which included lyrics aiming at Curtis' personal life. Furthermore, Curtis also released a song, Officer Ricky (Go Head, Try Me) in response, using the words "fat f**k" for Ross.
Cent made things worse by reportedly releasing a s*x tape of Ross where he was spotted alongside Lastonia Leviston. The feud continued with Curtis making fun of Rick's health in an Instagram video when the latter had to be taken to the hospital in 2018.
Rick Ross was later questioned during an interview with I Am Athlete in 2020 about a possible rap battle with 50 Cent. Ross stated at the time that it might not be entertaining and continued:
"50 Cent had some major hits back when he had the top producers and artists collaborating on his tracks. That's why, these days, he's struggling to produce anything noteworthy."
As mentioned, Ross was involved in a brawl that happened at the Ignite Music Festival in June 2024. While a video of Curtis' performance has already gone viral, another clip recorded during his performance on July 6, 2024, in Canada also started trending on social media on July 8. Curtis referred to the fight by saying:
"Who was it? You did it? There he go right there!... Who said Canada was soft? Who said that s**t?"
Ross has yet to share a response to Curtis' performance videos. While 50 Cent hinted at an upcoming collaboration with Drake on July 21, through an X (formerly Twitter) post.
