In a scathing response to Joey Badass’ The Ruler’s Back, West Coast rapper Ray Vaughn released his own single, Crashout Heritage, on January 9. Vaughn has called out Joey and several others in the diss track, including Tory Lanez, DDG, and The Rory & Mal Podcast’s Mal.

As Ray Vaughn called out Joey Badass for his new song, he rapped:

“What’s with the sneak dissin? Takin’ shots at us, then hide the Uzi/ ‘Cause the only badass the world was recognizin’ is Boosie.”

The Top Dawg Entertainment artist also called out Joey Badass for supposedly being a hypocrite, as he had collaborated with West Coast rapper Ab-Soul on his 2022 Herbert album.

“Please don’t get confused with shootin’ the movies, we really shootin’/ Was on Soul album, so if you ask me, you look like a goofy,” he rapped.

Ray Vaughn’s song comes after Joey Badass released The Ruler’s Back on January 1. In the track, Joey called himself the "King Of NY" and seemingly dissed the West Coast rap scene. In the Conductor Williams and Maria Luciano-produced song, Badass rapped:

“Too much West Coast d**k lickin’/ I’m hearing n***as throwin’ rocks/ Really ain’t sh*t stickin’/ ‘Cause if we’re talking bar for bar, really it’s slim pickings/ I rap like I draw pentagrams and kill chickens”

This was seemingly a diss at Kendrick Lamar after his year-long rap feud with Drake. Joey Badass has never been in a feud with Kendrick Lamar.

Besides Joey Badass, Ray Vaughn also called out Tory Lanez in Crashout Heritage

Ray Vaughn also took shots at Toronto rapper Tory Lanez, who is now serving a decade in prison. Vaughn rapped:

“And Tory, you should be ashamed of yourself/ Cause DDG needed to sell, you did a verse from a cell.”

He also discussed Rory and Mal in his latest track. Vaughn made it clear that he was not pleased to listen to the podcasters diss Kendrick Lamar following his Pop Out Los Angeles show.

“Shoulda did 60 days in for a podcast/ I treat Mal like orders from Temu, he’ll get boxed bad/ The Pop Out did somethin’ for n**gas who don’t got dads/ Watch us make the stock crash.”

The Pop-Out: Ken & Friends was a one-off concert by Kendrick Lamar in June 2024 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. Several artists were featured in the Juneteenth special concert, including YG, Ty Dolla $ign, Mustard, Tyler, the Creator, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, and Dom Kennedy.

Other lyrics in Crashout Heritage include:

“We raised Pac, Dre and Nip, that’s a heavily trinity/ And all we had was DJ Hed to back us in the industry.”

Ray Vaughn hails from Long Beach City, California. He initially gained stardom by uploading his freestyle tracks to YouTube. He released his debut EP, Peer Pressure, in 2021 and has since collaborated with several artists for his projects, including Gemaine, ComptonAsstg, The Freak Brothers, and Isaiah Rashad.
