Photos of rappers Trippie Redd and Coi Leray recently went viral after the two rekindled their romance. On Saturday, September 8, 2024, Redd took to his Instagram to share photos from the preview event of Leray's film Dullsville and the Doodleverse at the Toronto International Film Festival.
As the photos went viral, internet users were quick to react. One quipped that Trippie Redd looked like actor Orlando Brown.
While many expressed their support for the pair's relationship, there were some who disliked it. Here are some comments seen on X:
"this the most f**k it why not relationship i ever seen," one user remarked.
"They are so cute together," @theluci wrote.
"They always comeback," another commented.
Netizens continued to gush about the couple, stating they were happy to see them back together.
Trippie Redd and Coi Leray dated briefly in 2019 before calling it quits in a very public break-up
Redd and Leray briefly dated in 2019, but they soon split up. While the exact date of their breakup remains unconfirmed, it was a messy one. Trippie addressed this in his emotional track, Leray (2019), writing:
"It was love at first sight and misery after two months/ Always feeling f**ked up either by love or no love."
Redd later featured the track on his mixtape A Love Letter to You 4.
In a 2020 interview with No Jumper, Coi Leray addressed the song, saying she initially felt Trippie Redd used her name as "clickbait."
"At first, no, I didn’t like it. It was very like, what the f**k, because I always thought we really had something outside of the music," she said.
Leray explained that if Redd had something to discuss, they should do it together rather than behind the other's back.
"He coulda just called (her)" and not "put (her) down like that in a song," she said.
Despite calling his move "bulls**t," she praised her then-former boyfriend's ability to express his emotions in his music.
"Just like me, I’mma put my feelings in a song and my emotions in a song and he does it very well, and that’s one thing I gotta give to him," Coi Leray stated.
Coi also name-dropped Trippie Redd in her song Isabel Marant.
The pair sparked dating rumors last month after Leray shared a post on her X, saying:
"Sleeping on FaceTime, waking up on FaceTime."
Per a report by Rap-Up, Trippie Redd also showed his affection for Coi by sharing a photo of a Goyard shopping bag with the caption, "Yeah, she loves me," on his Instagram stories. The picture seemed to be taken from the same car Leray shared a photo from.
The couple confirmed their relationship after videos of them sharing a kiss at a concert went viral.
Trippie Redd and Coi Leray have not publicly reacted to the development.
Per the Doodles website (a newly formed entertainment company that will release the movie), Dullsville and the Doodleverse is an animated film directed by Burnt Toast and produced by Pharrell Williams. The film features the voices of Lil Wayne, Coi Leray, and Lil Yachty.
In addition to the film, Doodles released a three-single EP featuring the original soundtrack for Dullsville and the Doodleverse. The cast members performed said tracks.
