On September 3, 2024, Fat Joe and Remy Ma released the music video for their track Outta Control. The track, produced by Cool and Dre, sampled the 1991 song Summertime by hip-hop duo DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, the latter being Will Smith's musical alter ego.
Joe and Remy Ma take turns dropping verses in Outta Control. Joe's verse shows him rapping from inside a boxing ring, while Remy's verse alternates between her throwing money at female dancers and rapping from a police car.
The music video received mixed reviews. While some praise the rappers for their lyrical collaboration, others felt the video left much to be desired, with one person tweeting:
"What the f**k fat joe, Ozempic got this man tripping."
Others agreed with this sentiment,
"Man we don’t want to see this s**t," one person tweeted.
"Fire the n***a asap whoever told fat joe to do this bulls**t," another person added.
"I never needed to see Joey's C Cups on my screen, not never," someone else commented.
"baby wtf is this …." another user asked.
However, many praised both artists' contributions to the track,
"Fat Joe’s ear for beats is unmatched, and Remy Ma been a beast," one person wrote.
"Remy Ma bodied this, especially the opening bars," someone else added.
"Remy be spittin tho," a user noted.
"The title is crazy But Remy Ma jii like crushed her verse," another netizen tweeted.
Fat Joe teased a new solo album this year
Fat Joe's last solo album, The Darkside Vol. 1, came out in July 2010. Since then, the rapper has released many collaborative albums, but never a solo album, till now. On July 10, 2024, TMZ caught up with the rapper when he revealed he would release his 11th solo album in August.
“Breaking news: Fat Joe be dropping a[n] album in August, too, so put me in that list of pioneers and legends and icons,” he said.
While Joe did not drop the album in August, he has said the new project would come out sometime this year. Not much has been revealed about the upcoming LP, however, the rapper announced the album's lead single Paradise will premiere on September 11 at the MTV VMA Awards. The track will reportedly feature DJ Khaled and Anitta, with the music video coming out the same day.
It is unclear whether Outta Control will be a part of the new album. The track dropped on July 12 and the video on September 3 on YouTube. This is not the first time Joe and Remy Ma have collaborated.
The two artists released a collaborative studio album in 2017 titled Plata O Plomo. The 12-track album featured several songs produced by Cool & Dre. It was one of the five collaborative albums Joe has in his discography.
In other news, 50 Cent recently brought up his years-long feud with Fat Joe in a new podcast on September 2. Fiddy said the two rappers were now best friends after laying their feud to rest, and added his dislike for Joe stemmed from his association with 50's known rival Ja Rule.
