Paris Jackson gets candid about her upcoming song and songwriting process
On Jade Iovine's podcast Live From Bed, Paris Jackson explained that the songwriting process for her upcoming music work involves intricate details about her life, some of which might be challenging for some people to take in. The singer described her work as "my story."
Paris Jackson touched upon the inspiration behind her songs, stating that it "tends to come from the same place" every time, that is, "pain or heartbreak or loneliness."
The singer added that her songs will discuss several "touchy things" about her life, which might be hard for some people to digest. However, according to Jackson, her friends will not be affected by the contents of her tracks because she's always been open to them about everything in her life.
"All of my close friends know my story. I'm an open book with all of my friends," Jackson mentioned.
Jackson also revealed that she's been teaming up with Linda Perry. The 59-year-old songwriter and producer had asked Jackson not to be vague with her lyrics.
[Perry] gives me a lot of s**t because most of my lyrics are very vague and sometimes fake deep, sometimes very Bright Eyes Conor Oberst. Like, it's a very specific thing that I go for and she just [says], 'Be more specific with your words because I can't understand what you're saying,' added Jackson.
For their collaboration, Paris Jackson stated that she and Perry decided to make music that is loud, fun, and "a little more specific."
Although her upcoming album remains untitled and without a release date at the time of writing, the singer hinted that it would be out "ideally this year."
