Entrepreneur Scooter Braun was not one of the invitees at Blake Lively’s 37th birthday on August 25. It was hosted by Taylor Swift at her Rhode Island seaside mansion. Popular personalities like Bradley Cooper, Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and his wife Brittany were reportedly among the invitees.
However, the entrepreneur seemed to have a handful of words to write regarding him not getting the invitation.
On August 28, Braun took to his Instagram story and shared the news about the birthday getaway in Rhode Island. He wrote ‘How was I not invited to this?!?’ followed by ‘#laughalittle’. Soon after the Instagram story went live, netizens started pouring in their reactions and thoughts.
“Well, if this isn’t the definition of poking a hornets’ nest…” a Reddit user commented.
“I swear show business is just high school for grown adults,” another person wrote.
“Why is he inserting himself into this drama again? Lmao. Did swifties stop harassing him?” a Reddit user reacted.
Netizens appeared to criticize Braun by labeling this episode "petty". Some of them insinuated that he was an attention seeker.
“This level of petty. You’d think these people would be busy but their egos are bigger than their tiny little minds. Grow some vegetables, binge watch a TV show, have a nap and stop with this crap,” a netizen wrote.
“He hasn’t been getting enough attention lately I guess,” a Reddit user reacted.
“All of these people are so obsessed with eachother, they remind me of my highschool feuds,” another netizen wrote.
Scooter Braun shared a story before this containing the poster of Max’s Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun Bad Blood. He wrote "I finally watched it…" as a remark. The TV mini-series explores the feud between Taylor Swift and Braun after he secured the rights to the singer’s first six albums in June 2019.
The genesis of Scooter Braun and Taylor Swift drama
It all started when Taylor Swift shared a Tumblr post expressing her anger over Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings purchasing Big Machine and its associated music assets for more than $300 million. Big Machine was founded by Scott Borchetta in 2005.
Almost 17 months after buying the record company, Braun sold the master rights to Taylor Swift’s first six albums to an unknown buyer for a deal reportedly close to $300 million. Out of this amount, Taylor Swift’s 2017 Reputation had an estimated worth of $140 million.
The singer claimed at that time she was not aware of Scooter Braun’s acquisition before it happened for real and that she got to know when the news was announced publically. She wrote in the Tumblr post,
“All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years. This is my worst case scenario. This is what happens when you sign a deal at fifteen to someone for whom the term ‘loyalty’ is clearly just a contractual concept.”
The latest post by Braun is not the first time that he has shared anything related to the singer. Reportedly, after he purchased Big Machine, he shared a post in which a friend congratulated him by saying "When your friend buys Taylor Swift!!!" However, the post was deleted later.
The Love Story singer completed her final shows in London for the Eras tour. As per a post shared on her Instagram page, Wembley Stadium was overcrowded not only with people but also with exuberance, joy, and passion. The post also mentioned that there were 92,000 people each night of the five days.
