Azealia Banks had previously attacked Madonna just a few days ago
Azealia Banks attacked Madonna after Katy Perry praised the latter while promoting her latest album 143. Perry said that Madonna was "the greatest" and that she made it possible for a lot of younger female singers to pursue a career in this field. Katy Perry further said:
"When I talk to younger artists, I tell them that every female singer should continue to thank Madonna because she continues to break down barriers. I’m 40 years old and I can continue dedicating myself to music thanks to Madonna."
Azealia soon disagreed with Perry and gave her own opposing opinion. Banks went on to provide a list of singers who she felt didn't owe anything to Madonna.
She involved a number of names on the list including that of Beyoncé, Grace Jones, Björk, Céline Dion, and Missy Elliott. She further said:
"I can say that I have never, at any time in my life, been influenced or inspired by Madonna. I know three of his songs and not on purpose. I don’t understand the enthusiasm, I have been much more influenced by Beyoncé, Janet Jackson and Chaka Khan, much more than Madonna."
The tweet had further been shared several times and circulated across the internet making it quite viral. She further mentioned that it was high time that fans stopped "worshipping" Madonna.
Azealia Banks also claimed that in reality, Madonna didn't deliver what people thought she did. She even ended up calling Janet Jackson the "Queen of Pop." Not much time had passed after she made these remarks about Madonna, that she recently attacked Camila Cabello.
