Big Sean recently aimed to set the record straight before the release of his upcoming studio album, Better Me Than You, scheduled for August 9. On Friday, August 2, the Tobey singer had a one-on-one conversation with Charlamagne Tha God during the latter's show, Out Of Context.

Sean talked about resolving Ye's financial issues and avoiding a possible rap feud with Kendrick Lamar. He also discussed the background of his turbulent relationship with Kendrick, which took a hit after a leaked version of Kendrick's Element song surfaced online. In the song, Lamar supposedly dissed Sean.

During the interview, Sean revealed that Lamar reportedly apologized to him. He stated:

“He apologized, in a sense, for going that far [and] that sh* coming out. I wasn’t being a b*tch ni*ga or tucking my tail… If it was real smoke, I would be front and center for it. I would be prepared, but it’s not.”

Once the interview and the news of Lamar reportedly apologizing went viral, netizens took to X to express their opinions. One X user commented:

"Pulled a J Cole"

Other X users also shared the same sentiments:

“Sounds familiar… “might end up like the last ni*ga I know,” one X user stated.
“Love that they chopped it up behind the scenes as grown men,” another user wrote.
“Seems to be a pattern of him dissing someone apologizing than turnaround and doing it again,” another netizen stated.

Meanwhile, some netizens either supported Big Sean or criticized Kdot.

“Kdot was scared of Big Sean,” an user claimed.
“Big Sean is a better rapper than Kendrick Lamar. Why can’t we acknowledge the truth,” one fan commented.
“Dot been bullying RAP for years,” an X user said.
“Big Sean knew not to respond to it smart man,” another netizen wrote.

Big Sean talked about Lamar’s apology and his reaction to KDot’s single

Speaking further about the leaked version of KDot’s single 2019 Element, Big Sean disclosed that Lamar sent a secret apology via text message for dissing him. During the song, Lamar sang:

“Big Sean keep sneak dissin’, I let it slide / I think his false confidence got him inspired / I can’t make them respect you, baby, it’s not my job / You’re finally famous for who you date, not how you rhyme, boy / Cute-ass raps, get your puberty up.”

Sean then shared his thoughts on the actual issue and said:

“Joe Budden and made this, there’s a Kendrick and Big Sean beef. To the point where I tried to ignore it. But he made that narrative so f*cking real that I think it really did become a thing.”

Explaining the situation further, the rapper recalled:

“Within that same time period, that leaked sh*t happened. It was a leaked verse. I’m like, ‘Damn, y’all motherfu*kers said it wasn’t sh*t, and it was something. So you got me looking crazy.”

When Charlamagne asked if he had a response ready for the leak, Sean said that he had a whole thing prepared. He further added:

“I definitely was not running from or ducking no type smoke at all. So when I heard that there might be some remnants of something, I did have something prepared, I’m not gonna lie.”

As of now, Kendrick Lamar has not made any statements or comments on the entire interview. Additionally, Sean is all set to release his upcoming album, Better Me Than You.
