On September 16, hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested by the FBI in Manhattan, New York City, following a grand jury indictment. So far, the exact nature of the charges remains undisclosed. In the wake of his arrest, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams told the press in a statement:

"Earlier this evening, federal agents arrested Sean Combs, based on a sealed indictment filed by the SDNY (Southern District of New York). We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time."

Meanwhile, Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo shared that they were "disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office." He further added how his client has been "cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges."

Exploring Diddy’s arrest in the wake of grand jury indictment

On Monday evening, Sean Combs was taken into federal custody from Park Hyatt Hotel on West 57th Street, NYC. He had reportedly been living at the high-end Manhattan hotel for several weeks and seemingly cooperated with the investigation as well as the arrest.

Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo called Diddy a "loving family man" and philanthropist and added that while he was an "imperfect person," he was "not a criminal." The lawyer also mentioned how Combs was innocent and had "nothing to hide."

While the exact charges against Diddy remain undisclosed, they may be related to the federal raid of his residences in Miami and Los Angeles earlier this year. In March, bureau agents searched Combs’ properties on both coasts as part of an ongoing Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

The video of the raid went viral and showed many Diddy associates being detained and later interviewed, including his sons Justin and Christian. Reports later revealed that agents seized firearms and several electronic devices from both locations. At the time, Combs’ legal team described the raid as a “gross overuse of military-level force.”

An insider told NBC News that the raid on Bad Boy Records owner Sean "Diddy" Combs was related to ongoing allegations of s*x/human trafficking, s*xual assault, and illegal narcotics and firearms. The March 25 raid warrant came from the same Southern District of New York involved in a recently sealed indictment.

Since November 2023, Diddy has faced several lawsuits, starting with his ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, followed by others, including his former collaborator Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones and adult movie star Adria English. Diddy has denied all accusations.
