Rap community reacts as Kid Capri announces the death of M.O.P. affiliate Foxx

On August 3, 2024, Rapper Kid Capri took to Instagram to announce that his collaborator and M.O.P. affiliate Foxx died after battling an autoimmune disease scleroderma for 15 years. Foxx, who was hip-hop duo M.O.P.'s tour manager, was also an artist, adopting the moniker Lethal in Kid Capri's girl group Sly Slick Wicked and Lethal.

Kid Capri eulogized Foxx on Instagram, posting a photo of the artist along with a heartfelt tribute message that detailed their time together till he last saw her on August 2, the day she was taken off of the respirator.

"I went to the hospital to see you last night, what I saw had me walking out the room crying, a week ago or so. you requested that people come see you before aug 2, that’s when you wanted to be taking off of the respirator, yesterday was aug 2nd, I would have had so much regret if I didn’t make it there, because today your gone."

He elaborated on the pair growing up within a block of each other in the Bronx, touching on how he enfolded her into Sly Slick Wicked and Lethal. Kid Capri also spoke about her working with M.O.P., expressing his gratitude to the hip-hop duo who gave Foxx the chance to experience the world with them on their tours.

"You’ve always had an incredible personality and we all gonna miss you very much,, you go ahead and rest up, you did your job, we got the rest! God bless you prayers to you and your family! Sharitha cook! Big Fox!! Love you forever! #Pooch #kidcapri."

The rap community paid homage to Foxx on Kid Capri's Instagram post

Kid Capri's Instagram post following Foxx's death was met with more artists coming forward to share their experiences with her. Record producer DJ Premier, rapper Fat Joe, film producer Steve Lobel, and DJ Nasty were among many who paid tribute to Foxx.

"Saw her Tuesday at the hospital. She wrote "I LOVE YOU" on a piece of paper. I'm framing it. She's a tough loss to our lives. Love You Foxx Forever," DJ Premier wrote.
"Nah she’s family god bless I’m so sorry," Fat Joe commented.
"Dammm RIp big Fox I worked with her in the 90s when I worked at relativity and she was with MOP my condolences," Steve Lobel said.
"I was just talking about her! She was the most gangsta part of the MOP! God Bless Her!" DJ Nasty commented.

More people paid their respects to Foxx on X. Comedian Michael Rapaport posted some photos of Foxx, including one of them together, calling her a "loyal friend."

DJ Deadeye also took to X to pay tribute, calling Foxx a "Brooklyn legend" with a one-of-a-kind voice.

"RIP Foxx of M.O.P. Brooklyn Legend One of a Kind Voice Did a couple shows with her in the building Condolences to her Family & the Entire MOP & Brownsville," he tweeted.

Foxx was diagnosed with scleroderma in 2009. In a 2016 interview with The Ink.NYC, she spoke about her diagnosis, saying that she wanted to do as much as she could to help people while she could still.
