Ice Spice arrived 25 minutes late for her headlining act at the Wildlands Festival in Australia on New Year's Eve, and was criticized by Brenton Larney— an Australian podcaster— for the same.

Larney, who attended the festival on December 31, told The Guardian about the disappointment evident among the crowd, who waited for Ice Spice for nearly half an hour.

"At 11.01pm – they gave her an extra minute … – they cut the mic and you heard the collective sigh from the crowd. They’d been waiting for a while and they get two songs?" he said.

Larney continued:

"So that was a bit ridiculous and it was just really disrespectful how she walked off, she was laughing they tried to give her flowers for her birthday and she just shrugged them off."

Ice Spice's set was scheduled to begin at 10:30 pm local time, but appeared on stage at 10:55 pm, leaving the stage after performing only two songs. Per Larney, her set lasted for only six minutes.

Wildlands Festival acknowledged Ice Spice's delayed arrival on social media

Talking about Ice Spice's set on Wildlands, Brenton Larney also said that the Munch rapper appeared as if she didn't want to be there, adding:

"It was just really disrespectful to see, especially with all the cancellations and stuff we’ve had in the Australian music scene... It didn’t help."

Another attendee of the festival who talked to The Guardian about Ice Spice's performance— Mia Sims from Gold Coast— said that many others and she were already waiting for over 30 minutes before Spice's set was scheduled to start to get a nice spot in the mosh pit, being pressed together for an hour by the time she arrived.

Sims also complained that the two songs performed by the Deli rapper were not even her popular songs. She was expecting Spice to at least apologize for her delay later over social media, which also didn't come.

Wildlands Festival was also approached by the media outlet for a comment but didn't respond. They, however, did address the incident on Instagram, writing:

"We understand that Ice Spice’s delayed arrival caused some frustration. Managing a stacked festival means that we have to be extremely firm with scheduled set times. We had a strict curfew of 12:30 and needed to ensure that Chase & Status went on stage on time so you could all enjoy the NYE Countdown!"

Ice Spice's recent weight loss has been making headlines

The delayed performance of Ice Spice at Wildlands Festival comes a week after the No Clarity rapper made headlines about her weight loss. On December 22, Spice uploaded a snap of herself with chef Nobu Matsuhisa, in which she was wearing a pink zip-up cropped sweater paired with low-waist jeans.

Her flat abs were visible in the picture, which caught the attention of social media users, as reported by MSN. Many netizens have accused the Plenty Sun rapper of taking Ozempic to help her weight loss.

The speculations come months after Spice criticized the drug in an X Spaces chat in August 2024, saying:

"I wish y'all never learned the word Ozempic. That's one thing I wish. Oh my God, like, what even is Ozempic? What the f**k is that? Genuinely, what is that? You lazy a** b****es never heard of a gym? It's called the gym. It's called eating healthy. It's called being on tour. Like, what the hell? Maybe if I was sitting home all day, it would be easier to stay big."

The Euphoric rapper also posted a video of her workout routine later in the month, supposedly as proof to support her claim that it was the gym that led to her weight loss.

Ice Spice was one of the three headlining acts at the Wildlands Festival on December 31, with the others including Fisher (OZ) and Chase & Status. More than 30 artists are currently traveling for the festival.
