Donald Trump’s recent usage of Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On has sparked a response from the singer. As the former President played the clip of Celine performing on a big screen at a rally in Montana on Friday, August 9, 2024, Dion took a jab at Trump, stating how the song was used in an unauthorized manner.
On Saturday, August 10, 2024, Celine Dion’s team took to her X and posted:
“Today, Celine Dion’s management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing “My Heart Will Go On” at a Donald Trump / JD Vance campaign rally in Montana.”
They continued and said:
“In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use…And really, THAT song?”
The iconic song, My Heart Will Go On, was sung by Dion for the 1997 movie, Titanic. After its massive success, the song was also included in her album, Let’s Talk About Love. The song became an instant hit amongst the masses and topped many charts globally.
Moreover, the singer also won many awards for the song, including four Grammys, MTV Asia Award, Billboard Latin Music Awards, Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, Japan Records Awards, and many more.
