Rich Homie Quan's funeral ceremony was initially supposed to be a private affair
The late artist's funeral on Tuesday grabbed massive attention after it became a big celebration. According to Yahoo Entertainment, while his family initially wanted a "quick, private service for the family to start the healing process," Quan’s father and manager, Corey Lamar decided to make it a bigger event.
Vibe reported that the event was an open casket ceremony where the rapper's close ones, including his friends and family, kissed his forehead and put a crown on his head before closing it.
The Shade Room revealed that the funeral service was broadcasted through the rapper's official website.
Atlanta City celebrated September 17 as Rich Homie Quan Memorial Day to pay tribute to the artist's contribution. Several other artists, including Killer Mike, DC Young Fly, and Stephen Jackson went up the stage to deliver their speeches.
Born in 1989, Quan released only one studio album in his lifetime, back in 2018. The album was titled Rich As In Spirit and became quite a hit, reaching 33rd on the Billboard 200.
His debut single, Differences, was released in 2012. Throughout the years, the artist gained fame and recognition. Fans have expressed their condolences following his passing.
