Rihanna and Nicki Minaj are among the superstar moms who regularly gush over their kids. On September 28, 2024, Rihanna uploaded a video of her son, RZA, whom she shares with A$AP ROCKY to X, formerly known as Twitter.
In the video, two-year-old RZA, wearing a white and yellow striped outfit, tries to escape his playpen and eventually succeeds. In his first attempt, the toddler climbs to the playpen's side but changes tactics as he moves to the other side and finally disembarks.
The toddler displays stealth with the Mission Impossible theme song playing in the background.
Rihanna captioned the video:
"Being a boy mom is an Olympic sport."
The video elicited various reactions from fans and netizens as fellow artiste Nicki Minaj, who is also a boy mom, commented saying:
“Chiiiiiiiiiiiiiii who are you TELLING???!!!!!! I’ve literally had to learn 3 new sports!!! Help! 😩 handsome self. Papa Bear flattened 3 playpens before we gave up on it.”
She also joked about how smart and strong toddlers are, saying:
"They have superhuman strength & brains and will find a way around any & everything.”
Everything Nicki Minaj and Rihanna have said about raising boys
Nicki Minaj welcomed her son, whom she fondly refers to as Papa Bear, in October 2020 and, since then, has continued to share snippets of her motherhood journey.
She shared an Instagram video of Papa Bear in January 2021 and, in the caption, thanked her son for choosing her to be his mama. She continued in the caption:
"Becoming a mom is by far the most fulfilling job I’ve ever taken on. Sending love to all the superhero mothers out there."
In another Instagram video uploaded in June of the same year, the Super Bass singer showed her son trying to walk.
The 41-year-old rapper revealed to Interview magazine in October 2022 that motherhood was the biggest blessing of her life. She thanked God for allowing her to experience motherhood. She described how having a son had caused a delay in getting back to work and had resulted in “real bad separation anxiety.”
She appeared on The Late Show in December 2023 and talked with the host, Stephen Colbert, about being a mom:
"Since this little human came on to planet Earth, I can’t do anything without thinking about him first.”
Rihanna and A$AP ROCKY have two children together. 2-year-old RZA Athelston Mayers and 1-year-old Riot Rose Mayers. The 36-year-old also gives rare glimpses of her life as a mother through cute social media videos of her sons.
In November 2022, the Umbrella hitmaker opened up to Extra about motherhood:
"It is crazy. It is amazing. ... It's weird. It's all of those things, all at once. The best feeling, the best. The most love I've ever known. I can't describe it. It's new. It's fascinating. Every step, every facial expression, every new milestone. I love it.”
The mother-of-two got candid with Interview magazine in April 2024 about raising two kids. She said her mentality had shifted, and she always worried about her kids.
The Fenty Beauty mogul also posts funny memes to demonstrate the physical toll that being a mom takes on her.
Rihanna and Nicki Minaj seem to have happily settled into motherhood. Both juggle their careers while being mothers to their adorable sons, respectively.
