On August 29, 2024, Sir Rod Stewart took to Instagram to clarify the rumors circulating about his relationship with his wife Penny Lancaster. Stewart released a statement on social media to confirm that there was "no disagreement" between him and his wife after outlets like The Daily Mail reported on an alleged rift between the couple.
“Despite erroneous articles in The Daily Mail and other tabloids that followed suit. We wanted to put the record straight. There is absolutely no rift between Penny and I and no disagreement over where we should reside, in fact it's the opposite," he wrote.
He addressed the reason for the alleged rift, which tabloids stated as their indecision to choose their place of residence between Britain and LA.
“Originally we did think it made sense to sell our house in LA, but having spent a wonderful time there this summer with family and friends during my Vegas residency we realised that it makes sense to keep our house there. Two of my eldest children still live in the Celtic House (the LA residence),” Stewart continued.
Rod Stewart reassured his followers that there was "no disharmony" in their marriage and signed off the statement as "Rod "a very lucky man" Stewart."
Sir Rod Stewart, aged 79, and Penny Lancaster, aged 53, met in 1999 and tied the knot in 2007. The couple share two sons, Alastair and Aiden. Lancaster was a former model and daytime TV star who became a London police officer in 2021.
Penny Lancaster was hired to photograph Rod Stewart when they met
Rod Stewart met Penny Lancaster in 1999 at London's Dorchester Hotel when the latter was hired as a photographer to accompany the singer on tour. Stewart had just ended his nine-year marriage with his ex-wife, Rachel Hunter, when he met the former model.
In a 2015 Loose Women interview, Rod Stewart said he had gotten her phone number and given it to his bass player, who gave it to him only after six months. The couple soon started dating, and the singer proposed to her at the top of the Eiffel Tower on March 9, 2005.
"I opened the box and he had bought me the most amazing princess-cut diamond engagement. It was classic and striking. I was stunned, threw my arms around him, and burst into tears," Lancaster said in an interview with The Evening Standard in 2012.
Their first son, Alastair, was born in November 2005. Two years later, Stewart and Lancaster tied the knot at a summer wedding in Italy in June 2007. They welcomed their second child, Aiden, in February 2011. Stewart also has six other children from prior relationships.
In 2017, Stewart and Lancaster renewed their vows in their Essex mansion. In a 2021 interview with People Magazine, Rod Stewart opened up about the reason for their successful marriage.
"Intimacy is the most important thing in a relationship. Don't take it for granted. I'm not talking about s*x, but a kiss and a cuddle and a hold. Penny and I do that every morning. We hug each other — sometimes in bed, sometimes out of bed, all throughout the day. It's a wonderful relationship. Lucky geezer, aren't I?" he said.
Ron Stewart and Penny Lancaster celebrated 17 years of marriage this June.
