On September 9, Tyrone Blackburn, an attorney representing several complainants who had sued Diddy, requested more time to serve legal papers to Justin.
In court documents obtained by AllHipHop, Blackburn claimed that Sean's legal team used "deceptive tactics" to get Justin dismissed from the case. He was reportedly of the opinion that Diddy’s team was attempting to "run out the clock" to prevent Combs from being served within 120 days of Lil Rod's lawsuit.
"On or about July 11, 2024, I received an email and call from Erica Wolff, who informed me that she would represent the ‘Combs Defendants’ in the cases I filed against Mr. Combs in New York and New Jersey." Blackburn wrote.
He additionally said:
"She requested additional time to answer or move in all of the cases. I granted her request. On or about August 26, 2024, Ms. [Wolff] filed a motion to dismiss Mr. Jones' case but conveniently left out Justin Combs as one of the 'Combs Defendants.'"
Blackburn further mentioned that he had spoken to Combs' attorney Jonathan Davis in May, when the latter ensured waiving service for his clients. Blackburn later believed that he "foolishly relied on [Davis'] word and stopped [his] process server from attempting to serve Justin and Sean Combs."
Tyrone Blackburn believed that Diddy's legal team tried to get Justin dismissed from the case by preventing him from getting served in time
As aforementioned, in currently obtained court documents, it could be seen that Tyrone Blackburn had accused the music mogul's legal team of trying to get Justin Combs dismissed from the case through "deceptive tactics," preventing him from getting legal papers served in time. According to Blackburn:
"This is a clear game that [Sean] Combs and his ever-evolving legal team have implemented in an effort to have Justin Combs dismissed from this case due to lack of service of process."
In the court documents, Blackburn later cited a separate case involving Diddy and his son Christian Combs. As claimed by him, in the other suit filed by a writer, the legal team including Jonathan Davis and Combs' former lawyer Shawn Holley implemented the same tactics. Attorney Tyrone Blackburn mentioned:
"Sean Combs and his counsels clearly plan to misuse and abuse the collegial conversations and agreements counsels have with each other to obtain an unfair advantage."
AllHipHop reported that Blackburn had asked for an additional 60 days to serve notice to Justin Combs in the suit.
For the unversed, Rodney Jones alleges Diddy Combs "forcibly touched and attempted and/or threatened to touch (Jones') intimate areas and/or touched (Jones) with his own intimate body parts" while the duo had been working on the record The Love Album between September 2022 and November 2023, according to USA Today.
Jones further accused Diddy and his associates, including his 30-year-old son Justin Combs, of participating in "a s*x-trafficking venture." Rodney also claimed that he had recordings of Combs allegedly engaging in unlawful activities.
