Selena Gomez, the American singer and songwriter recently opened up about her relationship with Benny Blanco, and how she had planned to adopt a child by age 35 if she had stayed single.
On May 29, 2024, the 31-year-old appeared in an interview with TIME and spoke about cherishing every moment with Blanco. However, she reflected on the time she was single and her thoughts about adoption saying,
"I was alone for five years, and I got really used to it. A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it. Then I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone."

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have crossed paths several times since 2015, when Benny worked on Selena's single, Same Old Love. Following that, they have collaborated several other times and started dating in the summer of 2023.
On Wednesday, Time magazine published an article with Selena Gomez, talking about her cosmetics company Rare Beauty, mental health, and relationships, among other things. During the interview, the singer was asked about the record producer's revelation of wanting children.
Gomez quipped that Blanco could not "lie to save his life. If he's asked a question, he'll answer it." She talked about her own experience with stardom and her fans saying,
"I know what people can do to people I love. My own fans, who I adore and feel like have shaped who I am, will say the most hurtful things to me about how I live my life."
Selena continued:
"But he has the strength in him that none of that noise fazes him. It's really impressive, and I just cherish every moment with him. I don't know what the future holds, but I do know that he's not going anywhere any time soon."
Selena Gomez revealed that she initially saw Blanco as a friend, however, her feelings turned romantic after attending a birthday party to meet his friend. She said, "It just happens when you least expect it." Benny Blanco talked about his future plans during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show on May 14, 2024. He shared,
"I want to have kids. That's the next goal, to check the box. I have a ton of godkids, I've got a ton of nephews. I love being around kids... When I do look at her, I'm always like, ‘I don't know a world where it could be better than this.'"
Blanco confirmed that he had not bought a ring for Selena Gomez yet.
The singer also talked about her health with Time. She revealed that her lupus is in remission as she has been taking medication to manage her symptoms. Gomez also shared that her kidney is also in good condition. It has been seven years since the Disney star underwent a kidney transplant from her friend Francia Raísa.
