Rihanna expressed admiration for Billie Eilish during an interview with Access Hollywood anchor, Scott Evans. The nine-time Grammy Award winner praised the Birds of a Feather crooner for her edgy and unique approach to music and creativity.
She said in her exclusive interview, posted on Access Hollywood's official Instagram account on November 8, 2024:
“She is the most Anti, coolest girl ever. And I just like....In my mind she doesn’t listen to commercial music. I feel like she’s just creating her diary vocally.”
Rihanna continued in her praise of Eilish:
“You can feel like she’s just zoned into who she is and what she’s experiencing and what she’s feeling even if she doesn’t know what it is. Not a lot of people can relate to that.”
Rihanna has shown interest in collaborating with Billie Eilish
At a Puma x Fenty event in October 2024, the Fenty Beauty mogul was asked to name the artist she would like to collaborate with. She mentioned Billie Eilish saying:
"If I could only do a song with Billie Eilish. She’s so good."
Shortly after the Diamond crooner name-dropped Eilish at the Puma X Fenty event, the latter reposted the Access Hollywood interview on her Instagram stories on October 24, 2024, as reported by Billboard on October 25, 2024. Eilish expressed her shock at Riri’s statement using the caption:
“What in the absolute f**k. Oh my god. What the f**k.”
During her recent interview with host Scott Evans, Rihanna was reminded by the TV personality, of her statement on collaborating with Billie Eilish and the singer’s reaction to the news. Rihanna responded that she was surprised that Eilish even knew her.
Evans also brought up the nominations for the Grammy Awards 2025 and mentioned Eilish as one of the possible nominees for the ceremony. The Barbadian singer chipped in with: “She should be.”
The 36-year-old superstar hasn’t released an album since her Anti album of 2016 but has hinted to media outlets on different occasions about her plans for her upcoming album. She spoke with Entertainment Tonight on June 11, 2024, and revealed that she was “starting over” with her highly anticipated ninth album dubbed R9 by fans:
"Yeah, I'm starting over," she continued, "But I don’t want to neglect the songs that I have, so I actually want to go back and listen to stuff with new ears, with my new perspective, and then see what applies and what I'm still in love with."
An exclusive by The US Sun on August 12, 2024, stated that the elusive R9 album was on the cusp of being released while plans for a “huge world tour” were also being made. According to the news site, an insider stated that Rihanna may headline the Glastonbury music festival in 2025. The source quoted the industry insider:
"Rihanna has been back in the studio for a while now and things are finally coming together,"
And added:
"Either way, 2025 is set to be her year with a giant tour in the works with Live Nation and yes, Glastonbury is back on the table."
