Rapper Lil Pump is currently trending online after his video performing his most popular song, Gucci Gang, at his grandmother’s 90th birthday went viral. The video shows a spectacled old lady dressed in black seated at a dinner table with an empty plate in front and a couple of wine glasses laid out. The background behind is that of “90” placed on the wall alongside other birthday decorations.

All you need to know about Lil Pump’s ethnicity and his song, Gucci Gang

Lil Pump was born as Gazzy Fabio Garcia on August 2000 in Miami, Florida. He has a Latin American heritage with his father being a Cuban and his mother being a Mexican.

During a 2018 interview with fellow rapper J. Cole, Pump shared his mother was born and raised in Columbia, and later moved to the USA. His parents got divorced when he was six years old. Later, in April 2022, he lost his father.

In August this year, ahead of the presidential election, Lil Pump condemned Kamala Harris for her alleged communist views. Taking to Instagram, he wrote:

“This is a battle of Communism vs. Freedom. My mom grew up in Columbia and has seen the effects of Communism firsthand. We can’t EVER let that happen here. The only way it will is if we ‘elect’ Kamala.”

Lil Pump rose to fame on SoundCloud. However, his breakthrough came with the release of his 2017 single, Gucci Gang. It earned him a record deal with Warner Bros. and pushed his net worth to approximately $10 million.

The rap number was produced by Big Head and co-produced by Gnealz. It was released as the fifth single of his self-titled debut album and was centered on women, money, drugs, jewelry, and high-end fashion.

Gucci Gang continues to be his highest-charting single and peaked at number 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, at the time of its release.

RIAA also certified it with five-times platinum. The official music video of Gucci Gang, released in October 2017, has over 227 million views on YouTube.

The remix of Gucci Gang was later dropped in March 2018 as part of Drake’s OVO Sound Radio. The eight-minute track featured 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, French Montana, J Balvin, Bad Bunny and Ozuna.
