Swifties were elated as US Vice President Kamala Harris walked off her post-debate rally to the Taylor Swift song The Man. Harris had previously engaged in her first presidential debate with her opponent, Republican nominee Donald Trump, on September 10, 2024, telecast on ABC News.

Just minutes after the debate, Taylor Swift broke her silence about her political views regarding the upcoming elections, endorsing Kamala Harris and her running partner, Tim Walz.

Kamala Harris's song choice for her post-debate rally was applauded by many, with people praising her for her calculated decision. One person tweeted:

Others agreed with the sentiment, adding that the VP was making a poignant statement with the song. The Man is the fourth track from Taylor Swift's seventh studio album, Lover. The song is a commentary on the double standards in society, with Swift pointing out that she would be praised for her lifestyle if she were a man.

"Harris using "The Man" makes a strong statement about gender and power," one person tweeted.
"She rlly ate and left no crumbs with that @KamalaHarris play god is a woman next debate," another person added.
"Best song on lover for a reason," someone else wrote.
"Ohhh they ate this up," another user commented.

Others wondered if Harris knew Taylor Swift would endorse her, leading to her song choice.

"I wonder if she told Kamala about her endorsement ahead of time," one person speculated.
"Kamala just secured the Swiftie vote...well, the ones who are old enough to vote," another person added.
"The campaign launched friendships bracelets for pre-order minutes later. Kamala used The Man as her song. Very, very pre-planned," someone else noted.

Taylor Swift calls Kamala Harris "a steady-handed, gifted leader" in her endorsement post

Swifties eagerly waited months to see who Taylor Swift would endorse for the upcoming presidential election. The singer had previously voted for Joe Biden in 2020 and supported a Democratic candidate in the 2018 midterm election in Tennessee, which was documented in her 2020 documentary Miss Americana.

Swift also recently received flak after she shared a hug with Brittany Mahomes, a Trump supporter, during the US Open tennis championship game on September 8. While this led many to believe Swift made a clear choice to support Trump, the singer proved people wrong when she endorsed Kamala Harris just minutes after the presidential debate on September 10.

Taylor Swift took to Instagram to post a picture of her and her cat, Benjamin Button, writing a long message about why she decided to endorse Harris and Walz.

"I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos," she wrote.
"I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades," she continued.

Taylor Swift also spoke up against the viral AI images of her supporting Trump, adding that the event instigated her to come forward and "combat misinformation with the truth."

She also urged first-time voters to register, signing off her message with "Childless Cat Lady," a reference to Republican VP pick JD Vance calling Democrats “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives" in an interview with FOX News in 2021.

Following Taylor Swift's endorsement, Harris's team is now selling Harris-Walz friendship bracelets, a nod to the bracelets that became popular among Swifties during 'The Eras Tour.' The bracelets are now available in Harris's store and sold in a pack of two.

Speaking of 'The Eras Tour,' Taylor Swift will perform the last leg of her tour in North America between October 18 and December 8, 2024. The singer, who wrapped the Europe and UK leg with the final show in Wembley Stadium on August 20, revealed she had no intention of extending the tour to next year.

'The Eras Tour' began in Glendale on March 17, 2023, five months after Taylor Swift released her tenth studio album, Midnights. She also dropped her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, while on tour in April 2024.
