Earlier this month, a photo was posted on the official Instagram feed of @theshaderoom, which showed Kelsey Nicole posing in Nicki Minaj's shoe collection "Løci." The caption of the post read:

"Okayy "Nikki Approved!" #KelseyNicole models for #NickiMinaj shoe collection 'Løci'."

Barbie World artist Nicki then took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on October 7, in which she bashed Nicole for the photo. She further clarified that Nicole wasn't professionally connected to the brand, even though she did a professional photoshoot with the sneakers. In the tweet, Nicki wrote:

"The fact that @TheShadeRoom posted this LIE 5 days ago & im just now finding out. chiiiiii LOL!!!!!!! I love being booked & busy. “Models for my collection”? 😩 She posted a photo in my sneakers. Me, nor my company knew anything about it until she posted it.."

The post and then Nicki's reply had grabbed fans' attention on the internet. One fan even claimed that Kelsey had deleted the photo from her feed after she started getting all the bashing. Many netizens flooded social media platforms to express their take on the matter.

Here are some of the popular tweets found on X:

Another netizen wrote:

"Girl I thought Kelsey was a model for the brand did she tell us she wasn’t? Idk it’s giving she herself played into the situation and they are blaming you."
"Wait… this whole time we thought she was being paid to model those shoes…" added a tweet.
"Kelsey knew exactly what she was doing acting as a model with an over exaggerated photoshoot," wrote another user.

While several netizens bashed Kelsey, she found herself a bunch of supporters as well. They blamed the media house to spreading a false narrative and not Kelsey Nicole. A user wrote:

"It’s not her fault the media ran with a narrative. Let’s not blame Kelsey. 😕."
"We knew she wasn’t paid. Nicki never posted her nor reposted it," declared a netizen.
"Does this mean i modeled for the line if i post a pic of me wearing them?" questioned a user on X.

Several A-listers have shown their love for Nicki Minaj's shoe collection Løci

Løci, a luxury sneaker and apparel brand, was founded in 2020 by two entrepreneurs and footwear specialists, Frank Eribo and Philippe Homsy, based in London. This year in April, Nicki Minaj got involved for a collaboration with the brand and came up with a collection known as "Nicki Minaj x LØCI."

The collection had about 11 distinct style of unisex shoes made of bio leather and also had a logo in order to pay tribute to Minaj. The prices of the sneakers in the collection usually ranged from $185 to $200. The new line was further announced by Nicki Minaj through her Instagram profile in March 2024.

Apart from Nicki, several other celebrities had also expressed their fondness towards the sneakers. This would include Leonardo DiCaprio, Sophie Turner, Mila Kunis, Jessica Alba, Lucy Hale, Kylie Jenner, and Robert Downey Jr., to name a few.

Nicki Minaj is not the only celebrity to have a partnership with the brand. DiCaprio had also become an investor in the sneaker brand this year. While Løci is a comparatively new brand, it has gained massive popularity over the past few years.
