Jay-Z recently made an appearance at the Mufasa: The Lion King premiere with his wife Beyoncé and daughter Blue Ivy, on Monday, December 9. The couple and Ivy were also accompanied by Beyoncé's mother Tina Knowles, who posed with them for the photos. This was a day after he reportedly denied allegations claiming that he r*ped a teenager in 2000.
Both Beyoncé and Blue Ivy Carter are part of the voice cast of the upcoming movie, which is scheduled to release on December 20, 2024. While the singer has voiced Nala, Blue voiced Kiara, Nala and Simba's daughter.
Blue wore a voluminous ballgown made of a fabric that had a golden shine. The family posing for photos at the event made netizens speculate that Blue didn't look that comfortable in the situation.
Many netizens cited the fact that she was still too young and was exposed to many cameras already. A user wrote on X:
"Well she’s 12 with 100 cameras flashing and people yelling over each other for her to look left, right & in the middle. It’s just you."
Another user wrote:
"She's 12 years old and on a red carpet with paparazzi yelling, that's not a comfortable situation no matter what's happening..."
"She’s 12 standing in front of a sea of flashing cameras and loud reporters btw," read another tweet with similar concerns.
"We don’t even know that this child knows what’s going on because she’s 12," commented a user.
While many users showed concerns about Blue Ivy and even claimed that she seemed uncomfortable, some netizens loved seeing Blue at the event. A user tweeted:
"Blue looks absolutely regal!! 👸🏾🥹🤩."
"Wait when did Blue Ivy grow? She was just a baby 😭😭," exclaimed another fan.
Jay-Z recently stated that he and Beyoncé would have to "sit their children" down, post the recent allegations
As aforementioned, the premiere event took place shortly after an anonymous complainant filed a lawsuit against Jay-Z. He was accused of drugging and r*ping a teenager back in 2000 along with Diddy at an after-party in New York. Jay-Z, however, denied all these allegations.
He even issued a statement on X, on December 8, where he said that these allegations would impact his family, including his kids, Blue Ivy and twins Rumi and Sir. The rapper tweeted:
"My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people."
The lawsuit has reportedly been filed by attorney Tony Buzbee, who has also previously filed a number of s*xual assault lawsuits against Sean Diddy Combs, who is currently detained and awaiting trial.
As for the upcoming movie, Mufasa: The Lion King, the soundtrack consisting of seven new tracks will be dropped on December 13, 2024.
