Addressing the packed rally in Atlanta on Tuesday, Kamala Harris taunted the Republican nominee, Donald Trump, for not confirming his presence in their upcoming debate. The Vice President also assured that the Democrats will win in Georgia.
Kamala Harris calls Donald Trump a "predator" in her Atlanta rally
In her rally in Atlanta, Georgia, Kamala Harris entered the stage while Beyonce's Freedom played in the background. The song is now the Vice President's campaign anthem.
Harris reportedly addressed a crowd of around 10,000 people at the Georgia State Convocation Center and made claims about what she would achieve if elected President. She also labeled Republican nominee Donald Trump as a "predator."
The Vice President detailed that before working in her current role, she had served as a senator, an elected attorney general, an elected district attorney, and a courtroom prosecutor. In all her roles, she said she dealt with various kinds of prosecutors, so she knows "Donald Trump's type."
"So in those roles, I took on perpetrators of all kinds: predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own game. So hear me when I say, I know Donald Trump’s type.”
In her 20-minute speech, Kamala Harris also addressed the issues she would look to address if the Democrats retain power, including the US-Mexico border policy and illegal immigration. She also threw light upon the highlights of the economic policy of the Biden-Harris administration.
Speaking of the border issue, Harris claimed that as an attorney general of the border state, she worked with drug cartels, human traffickers, and transnational gangs who entered the United States illegally. She compared her track record with that of Trump and mentioned that she prosecuted those guilty legally. Of Trump, she added:
"Donald Trump, on the other hand, has been talking a big game about securing our border, but he does not walk the walk. Donald Trump does not care about border security. He only cares about himself. And when I am president, I will work to actually solve the problem [at the border].”
Harris also spoke about the Biden-Harris administration's economic policy and focused on the idea of "hidden fees" and "price gouging." She also promised to put a cap on rent increases and drug prices.
Another important issue Kamala Harris addressed is abortion rights, referring to it as a "matter of freedom."
“We love our country. And I believe it is the highest form of patriotism to fight for the ideals of our country. And so, we who believe in the sacred freedom to vote will finally pass the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act," she said.
If elected, Harris would be the first female President of the United States and the first woman of color to be President. She vowed to ensure “the freedom of a woman to make decisions about her own body and not have her government tell her what to do.”
Kamala Harris ended her speech by declaring the Democrats as the "underdogs" in the race ahead of the November 5 election. The Vice President also urged Donald Trump to turn up for their debate in September after the former President said he was considering whether to attend it or not.
