On August 1, 2024, Laila! was joined in a conversation with Complex, where the publication directly asked the young artist if Yasiin Bey was her father, as it had been rumored for a long time. In response, Laila asserted and confirmed the rumors.

"Yes, he is my dad, y'all. The rumors are true; I'm kidding. But yes, he's my dad. He's my dad."

This revelation has sparked widespread discussion across social media platforms, as fans and followers react to the news that has been long speculated. Many responded to X, suggesting that she has the same facial features as her father —

However, after the recent interview with Complex, Laila! then re-shared the interview on her Instagram, tagged Yasiin Bey, and called him "dad."
