As per a post by Pop Crave, Sky Ferreira has reportedly disclosed that she has regained access to her YouTube account after 11 years. The American singer released her first independent track since ending her troubled partnership with Capitol Records in 2023.
On December 6, Ferreira posted her latest track, Leash, from the erotic thriller film Babygirl, on her YouTube channel. Her first studio album, titled Night Time, My Time, was released via Capitol Records in 2013. Leash marked her first independent venture as an artist, and her first single since 2022's Don't Forget.
Fans took to X to react to Sky Ferreira reportedly gaining control over her YouTube account. Her account was allegedly controlled by her recording label earlier. One X user wrote:

"Nature is healing," another fan added.

Sky Ferreira became a free agent after parting ways with Capitol Records in 2023
Sky Ferreira parted ways with her longtime label, Capitol Records, in November 2023. The singer had been with the agency since she was a teenager. Ferreira has not released a new album since 2013, despite teasing her second studio album, Masochism, for several years.
According to Ferreira, Capitol Records allegedly severed ties with her via an automated email on the 10th anniversary of her debut album. In an interview with Talkhouse's How Long Gone podcast, she said:
"Capitol Records dropped me on the 10-year anniversary of my album, which is crazy. They sent me an automated email and it was at midnight, so it was definitely deliberate. I didn't hear from them for like almost two years or something before. And I had been trying. It's like they waited 10 years on purpose."
Sky Ferreira further claimed that she "made about 10" albums during her time with Capitol, though only one was released. The singer added that she's "figuring out how to get some of the music back."
After her departure from Capitol Records, Ferreira's fans started a “Free Sky Ferreira" campaign. They bought a digital Billboard on Times Square displaying the slogan to spread awareness about her reported struggles with the record label.
Sky Ferreira last released music in 2022, as she dropped the 80s-pop-inspired single, Don't Forget, before the 2024 track, Leash. Her 2019 single, Downhill Lullaby, and her 2022 track, Don't Forget, were both reportedly supposed to be a part of her unreleased second studio album, Masochism. However, the singer claimed her label allegedly banned her from releasing new music.
In an interview with Vogue about her latest track from Babygirl, the singer addressed her troubled relationship with Capitol Records and said:
"They [Capitol Records] kept me from putting out new music for 10 years as a way of making me look like I’m incapable of it. I’m able to do a song for an A24 film after all this time because that first album clearly meant something to people.”
Sky Ferreira added that she's trying to figure out how to talk about her experience without getting into "trouble", adding:
"I’m still trying to figure out the words I can use to talk about it that won’t get me in trouble. But I also don’t really care about getting in trouble, because what else can they really do to me at this point? My relationship with them was obviously a bit fraught, and it’s never been very simple to explain."
She added:
"But to let me know I’ve been dropped from the label in such an impersonal way was clearly so personal."
In her latest interview with Rolling Stone, Sky Ferreira promised to eventually release her unreleased album, Masochism for her fans. The singer added that she's unsure whether to release it independently or look for a new label. She said that she "didn’t want to immediately run into someone else’s arms" after everything that she went through with Capitol Records.
Sky Ferreira's latest track, Leash from Babygirl, is currently available on multiple streaming platforms.
