Ivy has been the talk of the town after appearing on the red carpet of the film Mufasa: The Lion King alongside her parents on December 9, 2024. The 12-year-old is an integral part of Disney's upcoming live-action film, where she voiced the character of Kiara, the daughter of Simba and Nala.

On December 12, 2024, an X user, @britsalterego, took to the platform to share supposed images of herself from her yearbook at the age of 12 alongside Blue Ivy's red carpet look. The user seemingly suggested that Ivy does not look 12 years old and wrote:

"Do yall see what I’m saying now? It’s no shade to Blue Ivy. She’s just, 12," she added.

Netizens reacted to the X user's thoughts with many displaying their displeasure to her words. One X user wrote:

"Posting your school yearbook photo from 2000 to compare to Blue Ivy CARTER at a MOVIE PREMIERE… are y’all okay???," a fan asked.
"YOU'RE COMPARING TWO DIFFERENT BUDGETS AND TWO DIFFERENT LIFESTYLES!!! You're a Charlotte Russe type of b*tch. Blue Ivy is a custom dress for the occasion type of girl. She's got the IT factor and you're a NON FACTOR!!!," another fan added.

"She is on the red carpet for a movie premiere where is she one of the main character voices, and you’re smiling in front of backdrop at Sears..," a netizen opined.

Fans continued to criticize the comparison:

"i just feel like you wanted to use this moment to post a throwback pic of you idk," an X user jibed.

"You and her are not the same..," a netizen responded.
"I don’t see the problem? My nieces are in gymnastics and dance and typically require make-up for their recitals. I’d imagine a movie premiere to be similar, albeit more grand. I doubt she’s wearing a full face of make-up daily. We ARE also living in a different era," another person remarked.

The aforementioned tweet is one of the many where netizens questioned Ivy's dress, styling, and make-up. Many users opined that she did not look like a 12-year-old and considered her look inappropriate for her age. In response to the backlash the X user faced online, they explained that they were hinting at how Ivy supposedly looks older than her age.

“First of all, she looks gorgeous. I think the fact that anybody has anything to say about someone else’s daughter, any minor, I think just mind your business," Millian said on Tuesday, December 10.

Blue Ivy posed for the paparazzi alongside her parents as she stunned in a golden strapless gown. Speaking of her look, Millian added that she did not look "extra" or "too much" as claimed in the online discourse about her.

“She’s talented, she toured the world with her mom, like there’s nothing you can say. You can’t dim that shine. Let that baby glow!," the actress said.

Shortly after the premiere appearance, Beyonce also took to her Instagram to share a message for her daughter. She shared images of her daughter from the premiere night and wrote:

"My gorgeous baby girl. This is your night. You worked hard and you did such a beautiful job as the voice of Kiara. Your family could not be prouder. Keep shining."

While Blue Ivy lent her voice to the character Simba and Nala's daughter Kiara in Mufasa: The Lion King, her mother Beyonce lent her voice to Simba's lioness wife, Nala. The live-action spin-off of Disney's iconic Lion King franchise is set to release in theaters on December 20, 2024.
