Celine Dion at the Paris Olympics marks her first performance since her Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis
Besides the huge spectacle that the Paris Olympics brought worldwide, Celine Dion's act to close the opening ceremony of the Summer Games was also a special one for her fans. It marked the first time the pop icon performed since she was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in 2022 and decided to focus on her health outside of the spotlight.
The Canadian singer also discussed her health struggles in her documentary titled I Am: Celine Dion (2024), where she got candid about her everyday life with her illness. In the doc, she shared her hopes to be back onstage again to do what she loves to do, which is to perform.
The pop icon mentioned in the documentary that it's harder to cancel a show than to do a show. She added:
"I'm working hard every day. But I have to admit, it's been a struggle. I miss it so much."
With her recent 2024 Paris Olympic opening ceremony performance, now it seems that the pop icon's dreams are starting to come true, as well as the hopes of her fans to see her perform again.
