On July 18, rapper Cardi B lashed out at media personality, podcaster, and retired rapper Joe Budden on X Spaces for reportedly criticizing her unreleased upcoming album during an episode of his eponymous show. Budden had commented that he believed that fans would “never get another Cardi album again.” Reacting to his comment, she stated:

"Joe Budden is obsessed [with] criticizing me up and down. Sh*t is really getting me frustrated because it's like, bro, leave me the f*ck alone."

Cardi B also accused Joe Budden of being “thirsty” to judge and criticize every aspect of her life, from her music to her personal life.

"You never compliment me. When's the last time you compliment[ed] me?" she asked.

In the wake of her backlash towards Joe Budden, the internet is now having varied reactions. Some netizens slammed Cardi B for being unable to take “constructive criticism” and “crashing out” unnecessarily. One X user wrote:

"She can’t take constructive criticism at all, quit being a rapper."

Others joined in and shared similar sentiments:

"She crashing out for no reason," one person wrote.
"Can’t take criticism," another person wrote.

Meanwhile, others pointed out that she was being “too emotional” during her session:

"Crazy that whole segment started with him being hype about a song from her coming out smh. She be too damn emotional," a netizen wrote.
"Tooooo emotional. She sound like she in the 5th grade," another netizen wrote.

Others called out Joe Budden and claimed that he was a “liar” who was “messing” with the Bodak Yellow rapper for a long time:

"Joe is a known liar. He don’t even do good business with so called friends," a user wrote.
"The fact he’s trying to immediately drop it and apologize tells me this nigga knows he’s lying lmfaoo," another user wrote.
"Y’all talking about ‘can’t take criticism’ this man been messing with her for months now," an individual wrote.

Exploring, in detail, what Cardi B said about Joe Budden

On Thursday, Cardi B appeared on X Space and openly addressed her grievances against Joe Budden. She accused him of comparing her with another female rapper, stating:

"Every single f*cking five, six months, you comparing another female rapper towards me. You compare new artists, you compare old artists. You compare every single f*cking artist [to] me, bro. If you love these b*tches so much, why you not talking about their album?"

The Bronx native added how Budden never talks about other artists but only continues to compare them to her, not realizing that her “worst records beat their best records all the time.” She also alleged that he has been lying about her album drop.

"I don't understand this about Joe Budden, right? First, you always talking about you got a source from Atlantic [Records] that be telling you about my album, and that's a f*cking lie. First things first, you said that if Atlantic don't drop my album, they going to f**king drop it for me," she stated.

The Girls Like You hitmaker went on to explain that Budden’s claims are baseless as she never sends her unreleased music to anybody, not even her manager, and the only person beside her who had “possessions” of her album was her engineer.

Cardi B shared that her professional meetings never have “more than five people in the room,” so no information could ever get leaked, contrary to Budden’s claims. She added that if Joe really wanted to “listen” to her forthcoming music, he would have tried to get in touch with her and attend one of her studio sessions.

She then accused Joe Budden of seeing her go through a “real tough time” with her husband, not trying to help but instead making false allegations that she was doing it for “publicity” and trying to compete with another woman. She further claimed that this “b*tch” pushed her to attempt suicide in 2019, but Budden just wanted to “interview” her with no regard for her feelings.

"You think I have a baby daddy or boyfriend? I'm in a marriage… Everything [I] do, whether it's my personal life or whether it's my music life, you always talking sh*t about it… You're not thirsty for my album. You thirsty to criticize it. You thirsty to kick it down," Cardi B added.

In conclusion, she said that her much-awaited sophomore album was very much “in motion,” contrary to Budden’s opinion.

Joe Budden’s response to Cardi B’s allegations

Following the Grammy winner’s outburst on X Spaces, Joe Budden issued a few responses on the platform. In the first tweet, he wrote:

"I promise you and can assure you, I will not cover a single thing this girl does for the remainder of her career… Peace & love," he wrote.

In another one, he claimed that all he really wanted was “an album from someone whose music I love.” He added that he understood what was going on and that it was all a “play” because he admired her.

The Everyday Struggle co-host also denied Cardi B’s claims that she once gave him a lap dance when he was on “coke,” adding that she was trying to “blackball” and “suppress” him.

Budden even tagged the WAP rapper, apologizing to her directly for whatever he did and sending “peace and love” her way.
