As the Young Thug and YSL case enters its 22nd month, the judge for the trial, Paige Reese Whitaker, blasted at the prosecution, stating that they have been “unorganized.” During the trial on Monday afternoon, Judge Whitaker said:

"I can't figure out what it is. But it is baffling to me that somebody with the number of years of experience that you have, time after time after time, continues to seemingly purposefully hide the ball to the extent that you possibly can for as long as you possibly can.”

She continued:

“I truly am struggling with whether all of this is purposeful or this is just really poor lawyering on the part of members of the state’s team. Either way it’s really unfortunate. If it’s something other than poor lawyering, then it is more than unfortunate.”

As the video from the courtroom went viral, where Judge Whitaker blasts the prosecution process, calling it “poor lawyering,” many social media users reacted to the same. An Instagram account, @TheNeighborhoodTalk, posted the video on the platform, and a user commented and stated:

Young Thug’s trial resumed on Monday after the pause due to Helene storm warnings

Young Thug’s attorneys filed another mistrial, for which the court resumed on Monday, after a brief pause due to the Helene storm warnings. Furthermore, during the session, the judge seemed frustrated with the mistrials being filed, and she blasted the prosecution for the same.

As she expressed her disappointment in the case, she slammed Chief Deputy District Attorney Adriane Love and questioned how she was handling the case. As Young Thug’s attorney called for a mistrial in the case, the judge said:

"This case is being made much more difficult for everybody because of the haphazard way in which it is being presented.”

Furthermore, as per Uproxx, the Young Thug case has become the longest in the history of Georgia State, as it began in 2021, and has seen over 100 witnesses to date. For the unversed, Young Thug has been accused of several crimes, including a conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, which is also referred to as the RICO Act.

The rapper also faced other charges like possession of a firearm, a machine gun, two counts of participating in criminal street activity, and many more. It is also worth noting that the prosecutors have alleged that Young Thug, or Jeffery Lamar Williams, has been the kingpin of YSL, which is a street gang according to them.

On the other hand, the defence has relentlessly argued that YSL is not a gang but just a record label owned by Jeffery and a few of his partners.

Williams was arrested on May 9, 2022, however, the rapper was not the only one to be arrested, as 27 suspected gang members were also named a part of the indictment.
