In the clips, she is seen asking Siwa if she could drink now, as she turned 21 this year. Then Siwa talked about her alter ego, Radical Rick. The girls then went on to talk about their alter ego and being drunk.
Now, once the clip of the interview was uploaded on Instagram, netizens flocked to the comment section of the video to criticize Siwa. They also called her “cringe”.
Jojo Siwa has always made the news and garnered criticism
Recently, podcaster Bobbi Althoff did an interview with singer Jojo Siwa and uploaded a small clip of the interview on her Instagram. In that 1-minute clip, Bobbi Althoff asked,
“How old are you?”
When Siwa answered that she is 21, Althoff expressed her shock and asked Siwa her birthday, to which Siwa replied that it was May 19. Althoff then asked if she drinks.
Then Jojo Siwa started talking about her drinking habits and the alter ego that she created.
“There's this person named Radical Rick. Radical Rick drinks. I don't know who it is, but all of a sudden Radical Rick is like, I wanna play… That is my drunk alter ego. And he gets drunk. It's a girl…. It's stemmed. We have bikes out here that we go and ride, and my bike, the brand name, is Radical Rick.”
Jojo Siwa continued in the video,
“And I saw it and I was like, I need this one. Like Radical Rick's hysterical. All of a sudden then, we realize that's my drunk alter ego. Ricky! Oh my God, are you drunk now? I'm not, no. I've only been drunk like four times now in my life.”
However, this clip garnered backlash and criticism from internet users, who took to the comment section of the video and claimed that it was “cringe”. Some even asked if she was drunk, and others claimed that she was.
Nevertheless, this wasn't the first time Siwa garnered backlash. She published the video on her TikTok account on July 18 and rejoiced about overtaking well-known singers like Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry in the category of this year's most disliked female artist music video.
She was in first place with 3.1 million dislikes, according to her stats, which were corroborated by an online dislike viewer.
Within two days from the incident, Jojo Siwa again made the news when she disclosed the details of her surrogacy plan to give birth to triplets. On July 15, she stated in a video for the If It Were Me series on Cosmopolitan:
“Because I’m gay as sh*t and I have to plan a pregnancy much different than a straight person, I actually want to take three eggs, fertilize three eggs, and have three surrogates. So technically, they’ll all be the same batch, but they would all be born separately.”
She further revealed a tentative birth date for her triplets and said:
“I will have as many more as you want, however many more, but [Freddy, Eddy, and Teddy are] coming and they will be here in three years whether you like it or not.”
After that, social media users took to X and called her out.
Moreover, the 21-year-old earlier expressed a desire to have twin boys, Eddy and Teddy, and a baby girl, Freddie, according to a July 19 article published in PEOPLE Magazine.
Additionally, in March, at the 2024 GLAAD Media Awards, she even disclosed to E! News:
"I got three tattoos dedicated to them. Got a sperm donor lined up. We're ready. We just gotta be patient. I got a couple of years."
Following the recent backlash, musician Jojo Siwa didn’t say anything about this.
