Playboi Carti appears to have undergone a transition since the release of his sophomore studio album - Whole Lotta Red - four years ago. The rapper has taken a more outgoing stance as he gears up for his release, with a teaser for his new track uploaded on Instagram on Thursday morning, September 19.

The video shot in a parking lot at night, is about one and a half minutes long, where he rambles on for a while, then says:

"Should've signed to the O. I ain't worried bout nobody, n****s can talk, say whatever they wanna say about me."

The "O" referenced in the teaser is his 2019-founded record label, Opium Records. Elsewhere in the teaser, Carti mentions the title of his upcoming track - Timeless - also declaring that it's a collaboration with The Weeknd.

Playboi Carti and Lucki have been engaged in a beef all September

Playboi Carti's latest diss is part of an ongoing beef with Lucki, which started earlier this month, beginning with a feud between Lucki and Destroy Lonely - another artist signed to Carti's record label.

Carti's latest diss at the Chicago-based rapper is a reaction to his reference to "crosses up" following the release of ALL RED - the lead single from his upcoming studio album - I AM MUSIC, which is scheduled to release later this year.

In an attempt to clarify the details of his "crosses up" remark, Lucki took to his Instagram story on September 16, mentioning the Punk Monk rapper in the video as he said:

"Like I said from the jump, I don’t dislike you. You think yesterday ‘cause I bought a chain and I said, ‘Crosses up’ that I was sneak dissing you ‘cause you made a song that said, ‘Upside down cross tat on my neck,’ but it wasn’t that though, I just bought a chain and was saying ‘Crosses up.’ You just insecure because you don’t love Jesus like that."

Lucki followed the story with a screenshot of his DMs, where he had received several praising messages from the older rapper in 2023. The 28-year-old's suggestion that Carti wasn't a true Jesus lover could've ticked him off, leading to the latest Instagram video.

On September 15, Ken Carson - another artist signed to Opium - also took a hit at Lucki to defend his boss. Carson uploaded an Instagram story with lyrics of his track MDMA, where he rapped:

"Lil' boy, you should've signed to Opium, I laugh at that n***a, he slavin'/ You ain't get no money, you ain't get no funds/ I count that s**t up and I'm savin.’"

Lucki's ALL RED has been received well - with over 30 million Spotify streams since its release - and has set the stage for his upcoming album. As of now, there's no information about whether or not a music video of the track is coming.

Playboi Carti announced the release of I Am Music later this year

Playboi Carti's third studio album has been in the making since 2021, with the rapper initially set on Narcissist as its title, which was changed to Music in April 2022. Its current title - I Am Music - was first revealed in December 2023.

While the exact date or month of the album's release has not yet been specified, the digital albums are now available to pre-order from the rapper's website, with a delivery date stated as: "near the release date, no later than six months from September 13,2024.”

It suggests the I Am Music will perhaps be released around March or April, 2025.
