Snoop Dogg has gifted Simone Biles' father a Death Row Records chain as a present for his 75th birthday. The 52-year-old has been one of the major NBC correspondents for the Paris Olympics 2024 and has interacted with different athletes and their families to give us an insight into their lives and journeys beyond what we see on the field.
Simone Biles has been one of the major players of the United States team and has won three gold medals and one silver medal for her country. On August 9, her sister Adria Biles revealed the news that Snoop Dogg had given her dad a Death Row Records chain on his seventy-fifth birthday. Sharing the photo of her dad wearing the chain on her Instagram story, she wrote,
“Snoop gave him a chain and now he don’t know how to act.”
Snoop Dogg and Death Row Records go way back, and the record label helped release his first album, Doggystyle, in 1993.
The rapper took over the iconic record label in 2022 and vowed to bring back its former glory by making it a haven for artists and cannabis culture. He has already fulfilled one part of his pledge by establishing his first cannabis store in Los Angeles that will stock and sell Death Row Records branded cannabis.
When Snoop Dogg took swimming lessons from Michael Phelps during the Paris Olympics 2024
Snoop Dogg has been an integral part of NBC's coverage of the Paris Olympics 2024. His commentary and segments of interaction with the family members of the athletes have been extremely popular among fans during the entire tournament.
The 52-year-old was also the final torchbearer during the opening ceremony of the Olympics. He walked down Saint-Denis Street and towards the Stade de France Stadium with the flaming torch.
In an interview with AP News, the rapper also referred to the legendary Muhammad Ali and the fact that he also held the torch during the 1996 Olympics.
“It was emotional for all of us to see the champ [Muhammad Ali] holding that torch and walking up there.”
The American rapper had a hilarious interaction with Michael Phelps during the tournament. The 23-time Olympic gold medal winner was tasked with teaching Snoop the tips and tricks to becoming a master swimmer in the NBC segment. After listening to Phelps, Snoop commented he had all the key skills to become a champion swimmer.
"Wingspan, lung power — I definitely have great lung power — and I do have a swimmer’s body. Our bodies are similar Mike; we could be twins,"
The rapper even declined to use goggles before jumping into the pool with an authoritative "hell no." They tried some freestyle and synchronized swimming when Snoop Dogg suddenly quipped that his body was in "gold medal condition." However, that illusion was soon broken as he joked about needing oxygen amid some heavy panting after the swimming session was over.
