Kodak Black recently appeared on a live stream on January 5, 2025, and shared his approach to making music. Black talked about pouring a unique "substance" into his songs, as he began by saying:
"I always make sure my sh*t has substance in it..."
The 27-year-old American rapper and singer further added that he doesn't just make songs but lets everything around him play a part in the music.
Kodak continued by mentioning that music is not just a career option for him. According to the artist, his music reflected his life experiences along with raw emotions. He then explained how he put his soul into his music. As per All Hip Hop's January 6 report, Kodak Black then said:
"I don’t just make songs for the radio. I make songs for the people who need to hear it."

During the live stream, Kodak Black further explained that in order to make good music, it is necessary to connect with the audience on a deeper level. The video caused concerns among fans, as they speculated that the rapper was having drug problems.
Kodak Black previously opened up about his Percocet addiction
As aforementioned, fans expressed concerns after noticing Kodak Black's latest video, since the rapper was not new to drug problems. On June 27, 2024, Kodak shared his experience with Percocet addiction, during a show in Los Angeles. As per All Hip Hop's June 28 report, the rapper claimed that he would consume about a hundred pills in a day during the worst phase.
The rapper then continued:
"When I was at my stage, chewing on them Percs, I ain’t gonna say I popped them b******. But when I was at my stage, I was chewing like – bruh, I swear to God and my n**** will vouch – I was chewing 100 Percs a day..."
Kodak further expressed regret for coming up with the lyrics for the 2021 track Super Gremlin, wherein he rapped, "I knew the Perc was fake, but I still ate it ’cause I’m a gremlin." According to the rapper, if he actually consumed fake Percocet, he would be dead.
For those unaware, Kodak Black's Super Gremlin was released in October 2021 and it subsequently became a hit. The track made it to several charts, including those in countries like the US, Canada, Ireland, and South Africa.
