Variety reported that Lopez had filed for divorce on Tuesday, August 20, at the Los Angeles County superior court. According to documents, the official date of separation has been recorded as April 26.

Exploring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez's relationship amid divorce
The former couple began their relationship back in the early 2000s. However, they got hitched only two years ago. After they had their first wedding in Las Vegas in July 2022, Jennifer Lopez spoke about Affleck, as reported by The Guardian, and said,
"Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient."
The divorce rumors came to the fore after it was reported that they had been living separately for quite some time. The couple further sold their Beverly Hills residence. In May, Jennifer Lopez ended up canceling her This Is Me… Live tour.
The tour was meant to promote her ninth album This Is Me... Now, which was released in February 2024. The album was reportedly based on her rekindled relationship with Ben Affleck.
Affleck and Jennifer Lopez first met in 2001, while shooting for the movie Gigli, which was later released in 2003. Their friendship soon blossomed into romance, where they also received the tag of "Bennifer", by the paparazzi.
BBC has reported that in the court documents, J.Lo didn't mention the detailed version of a prenuptial agreement. The court has also ordered both the stars to disclose their finances and any changes in them "until there is a final agreement about all financial issues in your case."
Netizens expressed a wide range of reactions on social media, where many claimed that they expected the news sooner or later. Some even referred to Jennifer Garner, who was once married to Ben Affleck. The former couple have three children together and had ended the marriage in 2015.
