Two surviving members of the cult Heaven's Gate have threatened rapper Lil Uzi Vert to take legal action against him over alleged similarities with his new album, Eternal Atake 2's artwork and their logo.

In an interview with Complex, two surviving members of Heaven's Gate alleged that Vert had taken inspiration from their logo for the artwork of Eternal Atake 2, seemingly threatening him to take action. They said:

"Stay away from our Intellectual Property. Give the Group some respect. Don’t try to offer to buy us off, like last time. We do not want your money, no matter how much it is."

This is not the first time Heaven's Gate members took legal action against Lil Uzi Vert for alleged similarities to their logo. In their aforementioned comments, the duo were referring to the release of Vert's earlier album, Eternal Atake in 2020, which led to similar legal troubles.

The cult members claimed that they had "forced" Vert to make changes to Eternal Atake during their legal interaction in 2022. According to the duo, they went through a process during the legal interaction, involving a music entertainment lawyer to take care of "logos, trademark, and copyright infringement."

The artwork of Vert's upcoming album, Eternal Atake 2, features a background representing space, with an animated earth seemingly in the foreground. There is a small message alongside the artwork, stating:

"As promised - the keys to Eternal Atake are here again in Luv and Rage (The UFO 2) as Lil Uzi Vert and his father 2000 years ago."

It is worth noting that the phrase is similar to Heaven's Gate opening message on their official website, which says:

“As was promised, the keys to Heaven’s Gate are here again in Ti and Do (the UFO Two) as they were in Jesus and his father 2000 years ago.”

Founded by Do and Ti, Heaven's Gate is a San-Diego based religious cult. The group has often been represented in American culture as being associated with extraterrestrial life.

Heaven's Gate members explain that they have not heard Lil Uzi Vert's music to avoid "brain damage"

In their interview with Complex, the two surviving members of Heaven's Gate were asked if they had heard Lil Uzi Vert's music. In response, they said:

"No, we have not listened to Vert’s music. Living in this world is hard enough as it is, and we do not need the brain damage involved in listening to his works."

Speaking further about their legal battle with Vert in 2022 over the artwork in Eternal Atake, the members said that they considered it "a distortion and misuse of their IP." They revealed that they had taken action against him and forced him to make changes in the product.

"He [Vert] still stepped over the line in one circumstance but we got him to give up thinking he could use our IP to push his idea of him being a divine ‘leader’ and motivating his ‘followers’ to leave the planet. We will see if he takes it too far this time," the members added.

The original cover artwork of Lil Uzi Vert's 2020 album, Eternal Atake, featured an alleged reimagination of the keyhole logo associated with Heaven's Gate. At the core of the album were stories of Uzi's alleged space travels that were also allegedly similar to the beliefs held by Heaven's Gate.

The members of Heaven's Gate believe their founder, Do, was among those who came from "the King of Heaven." In 1997, 39 members of Heaven's Gate committed suicide allegedly believing that their death would transport them through space and save them from the impending doom of the planet. They also believed that the Hale-Bopp comet was actually an interstellar transport UFO.
