"Stop glorifying rappers" - Netizens are not happy with Lil Durk receiving two keys to the cities of Broadview and Bellwood in Illinois

The popular rapper, Lil Durk, was recently honoured by Cook County, Illinois, receiving multiple keys to the city, including from the Village of Broadview and the Village of Bellwood, in recognition of his community work.

Throughout his career, the Grammy Award-winning rapper has been a dedicated advocate for Chicago, using his platform and his Neighborhood Heroes Foundation to uplift and support his hometown.

However, as the rapper received the honour, the netizens were not left pleased, as they started pouring in negative comments for the same. As an Instagram handle, @TheShadeRoom uploaded the video of Lil Durk receiving the honour, a netizen commented:

“Chicago is doomed. Stop glorifying rappers.”

Lil Durk’s Neighborhood Heroes Foundation’s mission is “to empower and collaborate with everyday Heroes who are taking the lead to make positive change in the lives of those within under-resourced neighbourhoods across the nation.”

The website also mentions that the foundation actively works in many areas, such as education, health and wellness, and more. The website states:

“The focus is to create vibrant, safe, and inviting neighborhoods that are complete in services and facilities, affordable, and accessible to all; neighborhoods with identities rooted in local history and culture; and neighborhoods where livability is the product of engaged stakeholders.”

On the other hand, apart from his work for the community, Lil Durk is best known for his songs, All My Life, When We Shoot, Broadway Girls, Backdoor, What Happened To Virgil, All Love, 3 Headed Goat, Hellcats & Trackhawks and more.

Durk AKA Durk Derrick Banks is all set to release his ninth studio album, Deep Thoughts on November 22, 2024. Among the many songs in the album, Turn Up A Notch, Monitoring Me, and Late Checkout are also on the tracklist. Furthermore, as per HotNewHipHop, the album with also feature artists like Future, Kai Cenat, Lil Baby, Sabrina Carpenter, etc.

Lil Durk is also known for his other albums, like Remember My Name, which was his first album released in 2015, after which he released his other albums, Lil Durk 2X, Signed to the Streets, The Voice, Almost Headed, 7220 and many more.
