Lord Jamar sparked discussion after comparing Kendrick Lamar and The Game, claiming that rapper The Game embodies the essence of LA better than fellow rapper Lamar.

On December 2, 2024, a user @Chatn*gga101 on X shared a clip of Lord Jamar from his podcast The God Pod With Lord Jamar, in which he discussed Los Angeles culture. During the podcast, Jamar suggested that Kendrick Lamar, who was initially perceived as a "regular guy," suddenly presented himself as a "gangbanger."

"You know Kendrick was like a f*cking supposed to be a nerd or like a regular guy. Now, all of a sudden, he is like a gangbanger and some sh*t like that," Jamar said.

The conversation about Los Angeles culture also included The Game, whose real name is Jayceon Terrell Taylor. This discussion followed the release of Kendrick Lamar's sixth studio album, GNX, on November 22, 2024.

Lord Jamar reflects on LA hip-hop culture, seemingly comparing Kendrick Lamar and The Game

Earlier this week, Lord Jamar discussed Los Angeles hip-hop culture on his podcast, The God Pod with Lord Jamar, offering his perspective on the topic.

During the conversation with Artie Stacks, Jamar compared Kendrick Lamar and The Game. He added:

"Kendrick is him, my boy. Okay, to you, he is, they didn't ask you the question though. They asked me the question, and in my opinion, The Game is that guy compared to that f*cking Kendrick."

Furthermore, the discussion highlighted that Kendrick Lamar has been in the limelight since Snoop Dogg passed the torch to him in 2011 and labeled him the "King" of West Coast rap.

Additionally, Jamar suggested that this recognition does not automatically equate to adopting a "gangbanger" persona. He emphasized that The Game embodies a more no-holds-barred attitude, representing a raw, unapologetic side of LA culture.

"Yeah, but it's like okay, but that does not mean all of a sudden now pick up this gang-banging torch if that ain't what you have been doing. You just said you grew up in a neighbourhood and knew about it; yeah, cool... That's what I am telling you. The Game is a type of f*ck it at, you know, yeah," Jamar added.

This is not the first time the two rappers have been mentioned together in relation to their differences.

Most recently, in June 2024, during Kendrick Lamar's Pop Out concert, speculation arose that The Game was siding with Drake rather than Lamar, as Drake and Lamar were engaged in a lyrical feud at the time, according to Billboard.

However, The Game dismissed the speculation and theories, stating that he never mentioned being on anyone's side. He later addressed his absence from the concert, emphasizing that Drake is like a brother to him. The rapper stated:

"When the f*ck you heard me say a motherf*ckin' thing about who I'm sidin' with and this and that? There's a lot of f*ckery that goes on in this industry. I ain't have to be there to think that the sh*t was motherf*cking cool and major."

The Game said:

"As far as my relationship with Drake? Drake is my brother … And my loyalty is with motherf*ckers that's loyal to me."

In April 2024, during the lyrical feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, The Game seemingly appeared to support Drake on his Instagram story. He shared lyrics from Drake's 2015 song Energy, which discusses having enemies.

"I got enemies, got a lot of enemies / I got rap n*ggas that I gotta act like I like / But my actin' days are over, f*ck them n*ggas for life," Drake rapped.

While there is no documented or officially announced feud between The Game and Kendrick Lamar, the two artists are often compared, possibly because both hail from Compton.

As of now, neither The Game nor Lamar has publicly addressed Lord Jamar's claims.
