Taylor Swift's shows at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan on July 13 and July 14 were marred with bug problems. Along with faulty instruments as the singer toured her way through Europe on her record-breaking 'The Eras Tour.' Swift was performing a mashup of I Almost Do and The Moment I Knew on her piano during her acoustic set when a bug flew into her mouth.
In the videos capturing the moment, the singer can be seen taking a big gulp and coughing after she swallowed the insect. She stated:
“Swallowed another one. I knew it would happen ’cause there’s so many bugs here tonight. I just need to cough a little bit.”
This is the third time Taylor Swift accidentally swallowed a bug while performing on stage. Her first time was on the third night of her show in 2023 in Chicago and the second time was on day three at Wembley Stadium in London on June 23, 2024.
On July 14, the singer encountered some technical issues after her piano stopped working mid-performance of her mashup of Getaway Car and Out of the Woods. While a technician rushed on stage to have a look at the faulty piano, Swift quipped:
“You know what, we finally broke it. We have finally broken this thing.”
Taylor Swift continued with her performance after the issue was fixed.
Taylor Swift's performance in Milan debuted 3 new outfits
While Taylor Swift's 2-night performance in Milan was not without hiccups, the singer surprised fans when she debuted 3 new outfits during the weekend.
According to Billboard, Swift performed in a black-and-gold Roberto Cavalli dress during her Fearless set. During her Speak Now set, she sang Enchanted in a new sparkly gown in the purple shade that has now become quintessential to the album's era.
For her newly introduced The Tortured Poets Department set, Taylor Swift wore a white dress similar to her old outfit, but the new Vivienne Westwood costume had the words "Who's afraid of little old me?" and "You should be" on the skirt. The alternate version of the outfit had the lines from the album's opening song Fortnight.
Taylor Swift will next perform in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, on July 17, 18 and 19, before traveling to Hamburg, Munich, Warsaw and Vienna. The singer will be back in London to perform her second set of shows at the Wembley Stadium from August 15 to August 20. With that, she will wrap up the international leg of 'The Eras Tour'.
After a 3 month break, the singer is set to tour Canada, performing in Toronto on November 14. 'The Eras Tour' will come to its end with the final show at BC Place in Vancouver on December 8, 2024, with Swift confirming that she will not be adding any new shows next year when she performed in Liverpool on June 13.
'The Eras Tour' started on March 17, 2023, in Arizona, months after Taylor Swift released her 10th studio album, Midnights, in October 2022.
During the concert, which was also released as a feature-length movie, Swift released her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, in April 2024, as well as the re-recorded versions of 1989 (Taylor's Version) and Speak Now (Taylor's Version).
