On May 31, SZA posted a selfie where she transformed into a blue insect, and another post featuring a cover of Eminem's Lose Yourself. In the caption of the post with the cover, the singer-songwriter wrote:
"U ever just cover Eminem on some tender sh*t for feels? (Not on a project Just for my mental health)."
These posts came after Eminem released his new track, Houdini, which has garnered significant attention since its release. The track includes a reference to Megan Thee Stallion's shooting incident.
Houdini is the first single from his upcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). It also features recreated scenes from his 2002 song, Without Me.
SZA took to Instagram to post a cover of Eminem's 2002 hit Lose Yourself
About an hour after Eminem dropped Houdini, SZA posted a cover of Lose Yourself. Earlier this year, she mentioned that her upcoming project, Lana, would not be dropped for quite some time now. However, she made headlines for dropping the Lose Yourself cover.
Fans have praised the singer for the cover. In the post, the singer could be heard singing the first verse along with the chorus and a part of the second verse before it was cut off.
Just before posting the cover, she posted a selfie of herself dressed as a blue bug. The selfie attracted several comments, with some fans mentioning that she still looked attractive, while others called the photo "scary." In the post, she wore a bug costume in the color combination of blue and black. The singer also had a face mask on that resembled the antenna and eyes of a bug.
In March, the singer talked about her upcoming project Lana and wrote on X:
"I decided w all the leaks and me not knowing what someone has or doesn’t have it’s too complicated so I should jus consolidate the leaks and the outtakes and drop that as to not prolong the process and then focus on my next project as a win win for everybody."
While her upcoming album's release is not happening anytime soon, the singer released Saturn, a single from the same album, back in February. Lana, which was expected to be released by the end of 2023, has been getting postponed and delayed since then. Both the posts by the singer have garnered significant attention, as fans await her next project.
