SZA recently slammed her fans on X after they criticized her for failing to update her SOS Deluxe album with new songs. Lana (or SOS Deluxe: Lana) is a reissue of her second studio album, SOS, which was released on December 20, 2024.

Released by Top Dawg Entertainment and RCA Records, the album features a guest appearance by Kendrick Lamar and contains hit singles like 30 for 30, Saturn, and BMF. SZA had previously promised fans that SOS would be updated with her new work, but that hasn't happened yet, resulting in growing discontent among fans.

The Kill Bill singer took to X on Friday, January 17, to slam her fans for showing their dissatisfaction.

"I used to think sharing snippets, personal info + music tea would build connection but it actually just made ppl entitled ungrateful and disrespectful. It’s time to restore the boundary ❤️🙏🏾 be blessed ."

The songstress added:

"No more explanations / updates . No back n forth . All further questions hit punch . Thanks."

In the United States, Lana's lucrative first-week numbers propelled SOS to the top of the Billboard 200 chart. As per Billboard, Lana's separate performance was enough to warrant a top-of-the-chart finish for the reissue edition.

Many fans retaliated on X after SZA bashed them for being "ungrateful and disrespectful" in her January 17 tweet. One fan claimed that the singer had announced new songs and remixes and ignored them.

She responded by explaining that they needed sample clearance before releasing new work.

It’s almost like you didn’t read punch clearly announce we were waiting on sample clearance. Almost like wildfires broke out where everyone who worked on this album lives .. almost like you don’t give a f*ck, and lack common sense. Almost like u were raised by animals," she wrote.

Another user asked why she didn't wait for the sample clearance before announcing new songs for Lana. She explained that she was "tryna be kind" to her fans despite her manager Punch suggesting otherwise. She asserted that kindness was "dead."

"Cause sample clearances always happen within the preferred time frame lmao? I shoulda NEVER tried to give yall what u asked for . It wasn’t professional . It was KINDNESS AND A WILLINGNESS TO APPEASE u lunatics . .," replied the singer to another fan who accused her of being unprofessional.

In another tweet, she denied speculations of fans bullying her and asserted that she worked for herself and God. SZA also claimed that fans were being "disgusting."

SZA recently announced that she had parted ways with her longtime manager and Top Dawg Entertainment executive, Punch. The two have worked together since 2012, and the songstress announced the separation after the release of Lana.

In an Instagram comment, SZA wrote:

“Nothing to celebrate. The end of an era. I wish him the best whatever his choices may be. And to be clear I love punch deeply ! NO ONE should be attacking him or being cruel on my behalf . Sometimes ppl grow apart and that’s okay.”

She also spoke about the chaos surrounding the release of songs that were left off Lana. The songstress explained that the plan was to release the songs with Punch. However, his departure had made the process "a bit tricky."

Punch seemingly addressed the situation on X, writing:

"SMH. Change your bio and everything goes haywire. Sheesh. I’m beginning to suspect some of you guys don’t fancy me very much."

SZA appeared to comment on his remarks later, imploring him to "keep it cute."

It remains to be seen how SZA's separation from Punch, the co-president of Top Dawg Entertainment, will affect her relationship with the company.
