Republican nominee Donald Trump shared a series of fake AI-generated images of Taylor Swift appearing to endorse him for President in the 2024 elections, via his Truth Social account on Sunday, August 18, 2024.

The series of images included one where Swift was depicted wearing an Uncle Sam outfit, with a text stating "TAYLOR WANTS YOU TO VOTE FOR DONALD TRUMP.” The former President also shared false AI-generated images of Taylor's fans or Swifties, endorsing him for the 2024 elections.

The images featured multiple Swifties wearing t-shirts that said "Swifties for Trump." Two of those photos were real, featuring a Trump endorser Jenna Piwowarczyk wearing the t-shirt at his Wisconsin campaign rally, as per HuffPost report on August 19.

Trump captioned the collage of images with the words "I accept."

Trump also shared a fake news article that claimed Swift's fans had turned to support him after the singer's Vienna concert was canceled due to the possibility of a terrorist attack.

Fans were quick to point out Trump's false claims and took to X (formerly Twitter) to react to his collage of images featuring the pop star. Many advised the singer to take legal action against the former President.

One person said:

"Taylor is time to sue," one fan said.
"taylor sues him -> he loses all his campaign money -> taylor endorses kamala," another netizen added.
"it’s time to sue @treepaine," one person said.
"Notice how he had to use AI images because there’s no such thing as “Swifties for Trump,” one fan wrote.

Other fans urged Taylor to sue Donald Trump for spreading fake information, while some joked about his misuse of AI.

"oooooh i can’t wait for the lawsuits," one X user mentioned.
"does he realise AI can be used against him too?" another person said.
"What is ACTUALLY wrong with him?? this has to be illegal right??" one person said
"taylor doesn’t even know you lil bro 😭😭😭" another person said.

As of this writing, Taylor Swift has not endorsed any candidate for the 2024 Presidential elections and is yet to officially comment on the situation. However, during the 2020 Presidential elections, she went on record to endorse Joe Biden over Donald Trump.

When Taylor Swift criticized former president Donald Trump ahead of the 2020 Presidential elections

Taylor Swift had kept her political views private until the 2016 US Presidential elections, when Donald Trump defeated former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to become the US President.

In an August 2019 interview with The Guardian, Taylor Swift opened up about becoming more politically aware after the "Obama eight-year paradise" came to an end.

She said the last three or four years of Obama's presidency had "blindsighted" her a lot. The singer indicated she would be increasingly vocal about her political opinions, and she kept her word during the 2020 elections.

Ahead of the 2020 Presidential elections, Taylor Swift criticized then-President Donald Trump for his stance on the "Black Lives Matter" issue. Trump had made a post about the death of BLM protestors in Minnesota after the death of George Floyd at the hands of a police officer.

Taylor Swift took to X (formerly Twitter) to call out the former President for his stance. She wrote:

"After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? 'When the looting starts the shooting starts'??? We will vote you out in November. @realdonaldtrump."

In the months leading up to the election in August 2020, Taylor once again took to X to criticize the MAGA leader. The singer called out Trump for allegedly withholding funding for the US Postal Service and wrote:

"Trump’s calculated dismantling of USPS proves one thing clearly: He is WELL AWARE that we do not want him as our president. He’s chosen to blatantly cheat and put millions of Americans’ lives at risk in an effort to hold on to power."

In a follow-up post, Taylor urged Americans to vote early and remove Trump from power:

"Donald Trump's ineffective leadership gravely worsened the crisis that we are in and he is now taking advantage of it to subvert and destroy our right to vote and vote safely. Request a ballot early. Vote early."

In 2020, Taylor Swift publicly declared her support for the Biden-Harris presidency in an interview with V Magazine's Thought Leaders Issue. The popstar said she hoped her endorsement for Biden would start the "healing process" in the United States.

Taylor Swift told the magazine that she would like to see the President value people of color and make the LGBTQIA+ community feel included. She also voiced her support for abortion rights.

"The change we need most is to elect a president who recognizes that people of color deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included," the singer said.

Following her endorsement, President Joe Biden took to X to thank Taylor Swift for her support. He even quoted one of her iconic song lyrics from the track Ready For It from 2017's Reputation.
