Taylor Swift has reportedly blurred her former beau Joe Alwyn's photo from the recently released behind-the-scenes video of her chart-topper Bejeweled. Released on October 25, 2022, the song belongs to Swift's tenth studio album, Midnights (2022), and is co-written and co-produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff.
On Friday, December 13, 2024, Taylor Swift shared a behind-the-scenes video of the shooting of Bejeweled. In one scene, the 14-time Grammy winner directs one of the actors while holding a phone in her hand.
While gesturing, the screen lights up, revealing the wallpaper—a picture of Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn sitting and cuddling. In the image, the songstress is leaning on Joe's shoulder, her arms wrapped around his chest. However, the BTS video has allegedly been altered, and the wallpaper has been blurred.
Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn reportedly broke up in April 2023. Swift is currently dating Travis Kelce, an American professional football tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Exploring the relationship between Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn
As per People, Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn were first linked together in May 2017 when it was claimed that they had been secretly dating for months. Although it is unclear when the two first met, fans speculate it happened at the 2016 Met Gala.
Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn are known for keeping their relationship away from tabloids and the public eye. In a 2019 interview with The Guardian, Swift revealed her stance on keeping her personal life private.
"I've learned that if I do, people think it's up for discussion, and our relationship isn't up for discussion. If you and I were having a glass of wine right now, we'd be talking about it — but it's just that it goes out into the world," she said.
On May 8, 2018, Swift and Alwyn made their romance official by posting identical photos on their respective Instagram handles. Both shared shots of them standing beside a giant cactus.
While Taylor announced the start of her Reputation Tour, Alwyn captioned it by including a solitary cactus emoji. Joe Alwyn was also present on the opening night of Swift's Reputation Tour in Glendale, Arizona. While performing Gorgeous, fans even caught Swift pointing at Alwyn.
In 2018, Alwyn explained his stance on keeping his relationship with Taylor Swift private during an interview with Total Film.
"For me, I just don't feel [the relationship] is something I want to offer up to be picked apart by people who don't know about it, and it's just not theirs to have," the 33-yar-old said.
Taylor Swift was present to support her beau at the BAFTA Awards in 2019, where Alwyn's film The Favourite won seven awards. She chose to opt out of the Grammys for the second consecutive time to be present at the BAFTA Award ceremony.
That same year, in an interview with The Sunday Times, Joe Alwyn opened up about Taylor Swift making him the subject of her songs. When asked about his opinion, he mentioned that "it's flattering" for him.
"I turn everything else down on a dial. I don't have any interest in tabloids. I know what I want to do, and that's this, and that's what I am doing," added Alwyn.
Joe Alwyn has even co-written songs with Swift from her album Folklore under the pseudonym William Bowery. In November 2020, the songstress confirmed this in Disney+'s Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions.
"There's been a lot of discussion about William Bowery and his identity, 'cause it's not a real person. William Bowery is Joe, as we know," she said in the film.
She revealed that the two songs were Betty and Exile. Alwyn won his first Grammy at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards with his then-girlfriend for his efforts. After winning her third Album of the Year for Folklore, Swift gave a shoutout to Alwyn in her acceptance speech, saying:
"Joe is the first person that I play every single song that I write, and I had the best time writing songs with you in quarantine."
Talking about the songwriting process with Taylor Swift in an interview with The Guardian in April 2022, Joe Alwyn explained that there was no set schedule for them to write songs.
"It wasn't like, 'It's five o'clock, it's time to try and write a song together. It came about from messing around on a piano, and singing badly, then being overheard, and being, like, 'Let's see what happens if we get to the end of it together.'," he said.
After six years of dating, composing six songs, and appearing on multiple award shows, Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn reportedly broke up in April 2023. According to a report by People magazine, the two separated because of "differences in their personalities."
